“It's gonna be hard, but this is important, and I've got to do this.”
Leighton Meester is talking a return to music.
While talking with E! News, Meester called it “so great” that her decade-old album Heartstrings is going viral again.
“I’m still really proud of it and I’m so grateful like any work that anyone would find it relevant,” Meester said of people still listening to her music.
“It’s definitely something that I want to continue to do and I really enjoy doing,” Meester said of making music, “but I’ve been focusing a lot more on acting and my family and everything for the last handful of years.”

However, despite her primary focus being elsewhere, Meester said music is never too far away.
“I’m always writing and I’ve done a little bit of recording,” Meester told E! News. “I’d like to focus a little bit more on it in the next year or so.”
“I had so much fun when I did it. Touring was really fun. Just every little piece of it is its own little adventure and I really enjoy it and I love having this piece of work out—even when I hear it now—20-something me wrote it and it sort of morphs and changes meaning.”
Talk of her resurrecting her music career comes after creator of Nobody Wants This Erin Foster confirmed Meester is joining the cast alongside her husband, the Hot Rabbi Adam Brody.
Brody also makes a cameo in Meester’s new CW show Good Cop/Bad Cop.

Meester told E! News that it’s “very natural” to work with her husband of 11 years.
“I love his work and to be around him—it's very natural," Meester said of being on set with Brody.
“It doesn't ever feel unnatural to just move our personal life onto set. We've done it many times, and I hope we get the opportunity again."
