“It's gonna be hard, but this is important, and I've got to do this.”
Billy Ray Cyrus may be known for his lifelong dedication to country music, but his daughter just reached a country music milestone before he did.
Earlier this year, Miley Cyrus collaborated with Beyoncé on her first-ever country music album Cowboy Carter.
The song, titled II Most Wanted, was nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Country Duo/Group Performance and they won.
Meaning Miley has won a country music GRAMMY before her father did.
This is Miley’s third GRAMMY winning her first two in 2024 for Flowers.
Both Miley and Billy Ray made headlines last year at the GRAMMYs after the once-close father-daughter duo seemed to be feuding.
Miley notably didn’t thank her father during her acceptance speech last year, only thanking her mom.
While a guest on David Letterman's My Next Guest Needs No Introduction in June 2024, Cyrus called her mom, Tish, her “hero,” before saying she’s “grateful” she was able to watch her dad’s career and learn from it.

"Honestly, my mom is my hero," Cyrus told Letterman, but when it comes to her father, she says she’s grateful “for being able to watch him ahead of me. He's almost given me this map. There is a map of what to do and what not to do. And he's guided me on both."
In addition to adding to both of their GRAMMY counts, Beyoncé also announced her Cowboy Carter tour.
This particular win bring Beyonce’s GRAMMYs total to 34 wins.
