“This isn’t the Oscars, honey! We’re not changing for the after party!”
Corey Seager is officially entering his dad era.
The 31-year-old shortstop, who has spent the past four years with the Texas Rangers after a seven-year stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers, welcomed his first child one week after his teammate did the same.
Corey Seager’s wife Mady Seager announced the exciting news in an Instagram post on Oct. 7.
According to the photo, baby boy Camden Miles made his arrival at 8:09 p.m. on Oct. 4. He weighed 8 lbs. and 8 oz. at the time of his birth.
A separate photo showed the new parents smiling as they held the newborn boy on a hospital bed, while another photo showed Corey walking down a hallway at the hospital with a car seat in his hand.
Corey’s teammate, Josh Smith, announced the birth of his first child on Sept. 28, per “The Dallas Morning News.”
Though likely unintentional, Corey and Mady ended up giving their baby boy a baseball-inspired name.
Camden, which means “enclosed valley” in Old English, per Behind the Name, just so happens to be the name of the ballpark the Baltimore Orioles play at: Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Corey and his wife both grew up in North Carolina and have no known connection to the Baltimore area.
The name Camden is, however, a rather popular name in the United States and most recently ranked 193rd in 2024 with 1,857 recorded births, according to the Social Security Administration.
Not long after announcing the baby news, Mady took to her Instagram Stories to provide an update on the baby’s arrival.
“A week late & worth the wait. Heart has never been fuller and purpose has never felt greater,” she wrote under a photo of the announcement post.
Corey Seager’s baby news comes six days after end of season
Corey and Mady, who started dating in high school and married in 2020, per “The Dallas Morning News,” announced their pregnancy on March 23 — four months before the start of the 2025 regular season.
“our favorite chapter yet ✨ baby seags coming soon!!” Mady wrote on Instagram at the time.
Seager finished the 2025 campaign with a .271 batting average, 21 home runs and 50 RBIs in 102 games played. He had at least 30 home runs and 70 RBIs in each of his first three seasons with the Rangers.
The Rangers were six games away from a wild card playoff spot, according to ESPN.
Despite the disappointing end to the season, which came on Sept. 28, Corey hit his biggest home run six days later with the birth of his first child.
Several MLB WAGs took to the comment section of his wife’s post to share excitement for the couple.
“eeee he’s hereeeee!!!! congrats seagers, he is perfection!!!!! we love you so much already baby camden!!!” wrote Suzanna Villareal Wood, the wife of Corey’s former Dodgers’ teammate Alex Wood.
“We love you Camden!” added Mariana Vicente, the wife of Dodgers’ player Kiké Hernández — who announced their second pregnancy in August.
