“It's gonna be hard, but this is important, and I've got to do this.”
At last night’s Oscar Awards ceremony, Andrew Garfield presented an award alongside legendary actress Goldie Hawn.
While onstage, Garfield opened up about how much of an impact Hawn had on his own mom, Lynn Garfield, who died in 2019 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Andrew Garfield to Goldie Hawn: “There’s a person that gave my mother during her life the most joy, the most comfort and tonight I feel very lucky because I get to thank that person from the bottom of my heart. That person is Goldie Hawn.”#Oscarshttps://t.co/nl9CxOviL4 pic.twitter.com/ZECLT3Imk4

“There is a person who gave my mother, during her life, the most joy, the most comfort and tonight, I feel very lucky, cause I get to thank that person from the bottom of my heart,” he said to Hawn while holding her hand.
“I can feel her smiling at us at this moment,” Garfield continued. “You’ve given us movies full of joy, you’ve lifted our spirits. You made us feel that all is right with the world over and over and over again.”
Hawn blushed at Garfield’s kind words, saying how much she loved making those movies and how lucky she was to be able to do so.
The day after the Oscars, Hawn’s son, Olivier Hudson took to Instagram to thank Garfield.
“This was so touching and unexpected,” Hudson wrote alongside a photo of Garfield and Hawn onstage.

“Andrew that was beautiful my man. I cried, I laughed, I swelled with pride and then became concerned that my mom was now gonna love Andrew Garfield more than me,” Hudson joked.
“I’m still not sure where I stand. She hasn’t responded to my texts so…”
In the comment section, Hawn finally responded to her sons, but failed to assuage his concerns.
“I’m sorry I didn’t answer your texts honey, I was talking to Andrew,” Hawn joked.
Hawn attended the ceremony with her husband, fellow legend Kurt Russell, who watched on from his seat in the audience.
