Country singer Riley Green was in the middle of a sold-out show in Australia when a fan’s cell phone hit him square in the face. What happened next turned a chaotic moment into one of the most viral concert clips of the year.
The 37-year-old was performing his second sold-out show at Margaret Court Arena on March 14 during the Australian leg of his Cowboy As It Gets Tour. Green was about to speak into the mic when a phone sailed out of the audience and struck him in the side of the face.
A TikTok video uploaded by a fan in the crowd captured the whole thing in real time. Green shook it off quickly, then told his crew to turn the lights up. He directed security to remove the person who threw it.

The crowd proceeded to boo the fan who threw the phone. Loudly.
Riley Green Had Blood Running Down His Face
As Green picked his guitar back up, blood was streaming down the side of his face from his ear. A crew member rushed up with a towel to wipe it off. And then, instead of stopping or even pausing, Green leaned into the mic.
“Am I bleeding?” he said. “Y’all see how tough I am?!”
He kept performing with blood running down the side of his face. That moment — the one-liner, the blood, the refusal to quit — is what launched the clip across every social media platform.
After the show, Green posted an Instagram Story with a photo of his stitched-up earlobe.
“5 stitches later … sewed up,” he wrote.

In a separate Instagram Story, Green joked that he was considering passing out anti-theft phone chains at his next show to avoid another phone-throwing incident. The man got busted open and his first instinct was to crack jokes about it.
The Backstage TikTok Proves Green’s Toughness
Green also posted a TikTok video of himself receiving medical attention backstage, and it might be funnier than the onstage moment.
In the video, the country star was being advised to visit a nearby urgent care clinic to get the cut stitched up. He joked throughout the entire exchange.
When the medic suggested stitches, Green suggested piercing the bandage up with a stud — turning a concert injury into a fashion choice. He also floated the idea of just throwing some Elmer’s glue on it.
And when told to visit an urgent care clinic? He asked if there was one with a casino in it.
The incident didn’t slow Green down.

He continued the Australian run with two shows at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on March 16 and 17, before co-headlining CMC Rocks QLD in Ipswich, Queensland on March 20.
