A Hamptons Rescue Center Is Using 'The Pitt' Fandom to Find Homes for Pitbull Puppies

Hanna Wickes | March 23, 2026

Pop culture and pet adoption just collided in the most charming way possible. The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc. dressed up a litter of pitbull puppies as tiny doctors and nurses, named them after characters from HBO Max's hit medical drama "The Pitt," and posted the whole thing to Instagram. The internet, predictably, lost it.

The rescue center's Instagram post went up on March 20 and featured AI-generated photos of each puppy outfitted in medical garb. The litter includes Dr. Robby, Dr. McKay, Nurse Jesse, Dr. Santos, Dr. Whitaker, Nurse Donahue, Nurse Dana, Dr. Langdon and Dr. Abbot.

The caption leaned all the way in: "Code cute! Paging all puppy lovers. The ER just got a lot fuzzier. Meet 'The Pitt' litter, a team of tiny doctors and nurses ready to heal your heart, infect your home with zoomies and laughter, and diagnose an incurable case of puppy love."

The Backstory Behind the Litter

These puppies didn't start life in the Hamptons. According to the post, they were born to stray parents and found living in the dirt. The litter made its way to ARF from Georgia with help from rescue partner X-Port Paws. The center is directing potential adopters to arfhamptons.org to learn more about each pup and apply.

Fans of the show caught on fast. One commenter wrote: "Ok whoever named these pups must be as obsessed with the Pitt as I am because the dogs are a perfect match for their names! Dr Robby even has a beard!! Well done!"

Another kept it simple: "Each of them have a PhD in cuteness!"

Why 'The Pitt' Is Having a Moment

The naming choice taps into a show that has built serious momentum since launching in 2025 on HBO Max. "The Pitt" already has two seasons and has been renewed for a third, drawing both fan devotion and critical attention.

The show's format is distinct. Each episode covers one hour of a shift in the emergency room of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center (nicknamed "the Pitt" by its staff). That real-time structure creates a tension most medical dramas don't attempt.

Noah Wyle leads the cast as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch. He also serves as an executive producer and a writer on the show. During an interview with AV Club, Wyle described the creative challenge of the format: "What can you do in 15 hours? Is that enough time to fall in love or out of love? Is that enough time to find faith or lose faith? Is it enough time to find your life's calling or recognize that you're a fish out of water? That was the canvas that we got to play with. But ultimately, you can't do days' worth of relationships in one 15-hour shift. Everything has to be somewhat grounded to the plausible if not the probable."

The ensemble cast includes Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans, Patrick Ball as Dr. Frank Langdon, Fiona Dourif as Dr. Cassie McKay, Isa Briones as Dr. Trinity Santos, Gerran Howell as Dr. Dennis Whitaker and Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Samira Mohan, among others.

If you're watching the adoption space or thinking about bringing a dog home, the full lineup of available puppies and adoption applications are live at arfhamptons.org.
