‘Jury Duty’ Season 2 Is Here With a New Premise, a New Star and the Same Good-Natured Formula

Hanna Wickes | March 9, 2026

The Peabody Award-winning hidden-camera comedy Jury Duty returns with a fresh second season — now called Company Retreat — featuring a new unsuspecting participant named Anthony surrounded by actors at a fake corporate getaway, premiering March 20 on Prime Video.

What Made Season 1 a Hit

The first season of Jury Duty premiered in 2023 on Amazon FreeVee. It centered on Ronald Gladden, who believed he was serving as a juror during a court case but was actually surrounded by actors participating in an elaborate prank.

What set it apart from other hidden-camera or prank-style shows was its heart. Rather than setting someone up to fail or look foolish, the series let its unsuspecting star shine. Gladden’s patience, decency and humor became the emotional core of the show.

The series was nominated for three Emmy Awards and won a Peabody Award — a distinction that signals genuine quality and cultural significance. That Peabody recognition separates thoughtful, well-crafted television from the noise.

The New Season Moves From the Courtroom to a Company Retreat

Company Retreat shifts the action to the corporate world. According to a synopsis of the season, the new installment takes place during a “corporate offsite event at a family-owned hot sauce company.” During the trip, the founder of the company, Rockin’ Grandma’s, announces plans to step down, after which “the getaway transforms into a clash between big corporate ambitions and small business values, with control of the company hanging in the balance.”

It’s an entirely fresh premise — easy to follow and easy to jump into even if you never watched the first season. The stakes of a beloved small business versus corporate takeover ambitions add a layer of storytelling that gives the comedy real narrative momentum.

According to Variety, the season was filmed in Agoura Hills, a suburb of Los Angeles.

Meet Anthony, the New Unsuspecting Star

The season features a new unsuspecting participant named Anthony, who is introduced in the series as a temporary worker joining coworkers on the company trip. Anthony fills the role previously held by Ronald Gladden in the first season, serving as the only non-actor among the cast.

“Anthony’s charisma and kindness stood out immediately,” executive producer Nick Hatton told People. “From day one, it was clear Anthony was going to be a great hero. As for how we found him — that’s part of the secret sauce required to make the show! But safe to say there were thousands of candidates and we’re so happy we landed the right one.”

Hatton doesn’t describe Anthony as the funniest candidate, or the most dramatic, or the most likely to go viral. He calls him a “great hero” and highlights his “charisma and kindness.” Those are the qualities the show is built around — not someone’s worst moments, but their best ones. In a reality TV landscape that often rewards conflict and cruelty, that creative choice is what continues to make Jury Duty feel genuinely different.

The fact that the production team sifted through thousands of candidates to find the right person underscores how deliberately the show is crafted. This isn’t a random prank pulled on an unsuspecting stranger. It’s a carefully constructed comedic experience designed to celebrate the person at its center.

A Full Ensemble Cast Surrounds Anthony

Part of what makes the Jury Duty format work is the ensemble of actors who create the world around the unsuspecting participant. They have to be convincing enough that the real person never catches on, but entertaining enough to keep viewers laughing.

The season 2 ensemble cast includes Alex Bonifer, Blair Beeken, Emily Pendergast, Erica Hernandez, Jerry Hauck, Jim A. Woods, LaNisa Renee Frederick, Marc-Sully Saint-Fleur, Rachel Kaly, Rob Lathan, Ryan Perez, Stephanie Hodge, Warren Burke and Wendy Braun.

That sizable cast suggests the company retreat setting will be populated with plenty of colorful “coworkers” for Anthony to interact with — each one presumably playing a character designed to create comedic scenarios while Anthony simply reacts as himself.

When and Where to Watch

Company Retreat premieres on March 20, with the first three episodes releasing that day on Prime Video.
