Leslie Bibb shares why she doesn’t want to marry or start a family with Sam Rockwell

Ryan Brennan | June 21, 2025

Leslie Bibb loves her partner Sam Rockwell, but she doesn’t plan on marrying him.

The 51-year-old “White Lotus” actress, who has been in a relationship with her “Iron Man 2” co-star since 2007, recently dished on why the pair haven’t tied the knot in their nearly two decades together.

And it turns out marriage isn’t the only thing the couple are avoiding.

During a June 16 appearance on “Today with Jenna & Friends,” host Jenna Bush Hager asked Bibb to give her thoughts on a recent study that found that more women today are ditching the idea of marriage.

Bibb told Bush Hager that she was “speaking to the choir.”

“Listen, I love Sam Rockwell. I would put him in my pocket and carry him with me all the time. I love him,” she said before confessing, “I do not want to get married.”

Bibb went on to reveal that she was forthcoming with Rockwell about not wanting to marry

"It annoyed the crap out of me because he's like, 'Really, you don’t want to get married?'" Leslie recalled.

"I was like, 'Stop saying it. I already said I don't want to marry you. Stop asking me like I’m gonna pull a sneak on you,” she continued — adding that Rockwell “didn’t want it either.”

As for why she hasn’t changed her mind after 18 years: “I feel like if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” Bibb said.

Nonetheless, Bibb said she feels like she’s married to Rockwell — and it echoed a similar sentiment Rockwell shared a few years ago in an interview with “The Standard” in 2022.

"Leslie and I are very happy," Rockwell said. "[We're] basically married. She’s in my will. I feel like we are married. We live like a married couple."

Rockwell also made an appearance on “Today with Jenna & Friends” while Bibb was guest hosting — and he showed up with flowers for both Bibb and Bush Hager

Bibb says she has ‘maternal instinct’ but doesn’t want to be a mother

Bibb and Rockwell first met in the lobby of the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles in 2007.

According to People, the pair quickly fell in love shortly after meeting and have maintained a strong, yet relatively low-key relationship in the two decades since.

They’ve even co-starred together in “Iron Man 2” (2010), “Don Verdean” (2015), “The Dark of Night” (2017) and, more recently, an episode of “White Lotus.”

But aside from being partners and co-stars, Bibb says the couple have no plans of being parents.

“No,” the actress said when Bush Hager asked her if she wanted kids. “I just don’t have that chip in me.”

“I think being a mother is an amazing aspect of being a woman, and I really respect — I think it’s the hardest job,” she added. “It’s just not in me.”

Bibb goes on to clarify that she has a “maternal instinct,” but admitted most of that energy goes toward her dog, who she joked “is not a kid."

Her comments again echo what Rockwell has said in the past.

“We just like it the way it is. We don’t want kids,” he said in his 2022 interview with “The Standard.”

“Listen, if I knew they’d turn out great, then maybe — but there’s just no guarantee. Also, I don’t want to be selfish and be a bad parent,” he explained.

Rockwell also opened up about how upset some people get when they hear he doesn’t want kids — and it’s similar to the experience Bibb talked about with Bush Hager.

“One woman said to me, 'You’re not a real woman unless you have a kid,’” Bibb recalled to Bush Hager.

Elsewhere in the discussion, Bibb opened up about the highs and lows of being in a relationship with someone for so long and how romance is often poorly portrayed in rom-com films.

“It’s gonna happen, and you’re gonna meet them, and it’s a zing,” she says before bringing herself back down to reality. “And you’re like, ‘No, it’s actually couples therapy and let’s talk about feelings.’”

She also argues that the easy part of a relationship is in the beginning.

“You have to constantly choose the relationship,” she says of long-term relationships. “But I do think it gets better — like the intimacy of a relationship is sexy to me.”
