Lil Nas X pleaded not guilty on Monday and a hearing is scheduled for Sept. 15, per NBC News. He will either attend four Narcotics Anonymous meetings per week or enroll in an outpatient program.
Despite the conditions of his release, Lil Nas X’s attorney Christine O’Connor says there was no evidence of any drug use in relation to the rapper’s arrest.
O’Connor cited the rapper’s strong community ties and lack of criminal history while talking to the court.
"Assuming the allegations here are true, this is an absolute aberration in this person's life," O’Connor said, per NBC News. "Nothing like this has ever happened to him."
According to People, Lil Nas X could face up to five years in prison for his alleged assault.
In a criminal complaint shared by People, Hill was accused of using unlawful force and violence to inflict injuries on three police officers and made threats against a fourth officer on Aug. 21.
