2-Year-Old Boy Killed By Daycare Owner's Pet Dogs in Terrifying Incident

Katherine Schaffstall | October 6, 2025

A 2-year-old boy in Georgia was killed by his daycare owner’s pet rottweilers in a horrific situation.

On the afternoon of Saturday, October 4, Valdosta Police Officers, Valdosta Firefighters and the South Georgia Medical Center Emergency Medical Services responded to reports of a dog attack at a residence on Pecan Drive in Valdosta, according to a release shared on the Valdosta Police Department’s Facebook page.

Local news outlet WALB reported that the child – who was identified as Kaimir Jones – was already dead when first responders arrived at the scene.

Valdosta Police Department Detectives and Crime Scene personnel determined that Stacy Wheeler Cobb was running a daycare at her home that they believe was allegedly unlicensed, according to the police news release. Investigators also learned that Jones’ mom had left him in Cobb’s care for the day.

Police believe that Cobb, 48, left Jones unattended for at least two hours, and she allegedly told officers that he took a nap and she “thought the child was well” when the attack took place.

Jones was the only child at Cobb’s house at the time of the incident, though it’s believed that there are around 10 kids at the residence “on most days.”

The press release went on to explain that authorities believe Jones walked into the property’s backyard when he was left alone and opened the kennel containing the “two large Rottweiler dogs” that attacked him.

“This is a horrible and tragic event that should have never occurred, but because of negligence on this offender’s behalf, a mother has tragically lost a child,” Chief Leslie Manahan said, per the Valdosta Police Department’s news release. “I want to express our department’s deepest sympathy to the family.”

Manahan continued, “No words will ever ease their pain, but our hearts go out to them during this unimaginably difficult time. I also keep our first responders in my prayers, as they continue processing their response to this tragic scene.”

Cobb was arrested and taken to Lowndes County Jail following the incident.

She was charged with murder in the 2nd degree and cruelty to children in the 2nd degree, according to the release. Additionally, she is expected to be faced with more charges as detectives continue to process evidence.

Lowndes County Animal Control Officers took custody of the two Rottweilers, as well as a third dog that was at the property at the time of the incident.
