New Information in the Stabbing of former NFL QB Mark Sanchez revealed

Sara Vallone | October 7, 2025

Update: After being cared for at a local hospital, former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was arrested and faces several charges for his role in the attack.

According to police records, the other person involved in the altercation now identified as Perry Tole, an employee of a company specializing in commercial cooking oil recycling and disposal, claimed to have stabbed Sanchez after fearing for his life.

As USA Today reports, Tole came in contact with Sanchez after pulling into a hotel loading doc. Now Tole is suing Sanchez "suffered severe permanent disfigurement" allegedy at the hands of the former football star. Fox Corporation, for which Sanchez is a NFL color analyst, is also named in the lawsuit.

In the complaint, it claims that Fox Corporation "knew or should have known about ... Sanchez's unfitness as an employee, propensity for drinking and/or harmful conduct."

According to the Associated Press, Sanchez suffered stab wounds to his upper right torso while Tole sustained a deep wound to his left cheek.

Now, Sanchez faces a felony charge of battery involving serious bodily injury and other misdemeanor charges, according to Marion County prosecutor Ryan Mears.

In a statement shared by Sanchez's brother, Nick Sanchez Jr., with the Indianapolis Star it reads, "This has been a deeply distressing time for everyone involved. Mark and our family are incredibly grateful for the concern, love, and support we’ve received over the past few days."

Nick said his brother "remains under medical care for the serious injuries he sustained," according to the statement. The family said the former NFL quarterback is also "focused on his recovery as the legal process continues."

The original report begins below:

While preparing to call the Raiders at Colts game on Sunday, October 5 for Fox Sports, former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was stabbed.

According to initial reports, Sanchez was in Indianapolis preparing for the game on Saturday, October 4 when he was the victim of an attack that occurred during the early morning hours.

According to ESPN, after suffering injury as a result of the stabbing, Sanchez was taken to a local hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition.

“We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support,” Fox Sports said in a statement shared with ESPN. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.”

Sanchez will no longer be calling the game at Lucas Oil Stadium.

According to WTHR, Indianapolis Metropolitan police responded to “a disturbance in an alley” around 12:30 a.m. The call reported that one person had been stabbed and another victim was injured.

The identity of that second victim has not been revealed to the public. The incident reportedly occurred outside a pub, WTHR reports.

A suspect in the stabbing is reportedly in police custody.

Mod Moms Club will update this report has more information becomes available.
