A mother in Australia has been sentenced to time in jail after she poured kerosene over herself and her 7-year-old son before setting her kitchen on fire.
Sophie Grégoire, the estranged wife of former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, took to Instagram this week to share a message about how nothing we love is meant to last forever. And coincidentally, the 50-year posted the message just one day after photos surfaced of Trudeau making out on a yacht with Katy Perry.
"Do you find that sometimes we forget that nothing we love was ever meant to be kept?" Grégoire says in the video message, posted on Monday, Oct. 13. "The people, the places, even the moments that once felt, I don't know, infinite, right? Time asks us to not cling to them."
"And yet we do, I do, because to hold on feels safer than to let go," she continued. "But love was never about possession. It was always about presence, the present moment. And when we release what we cannot keep, we make space for the truth of connection, intimacy, the memory, for the lesson, for the way a single smile can echo across a lifetime."
"Grief also lives there. I've lost my dad in the past year and I feel that with grief also comes grace," Grégoire revealed. "So maybe love's deepest teaching is this, to stand open-hearted in the face of impermanence, to honor what has been and to trust that letting go is also a form of keeping inside us where no loss can erase it in a way.
"So take a breath with me, place one hand on your chest just for a couple of seconds, and remember someone or something you've had to release and feel how it still lives inside of you," she added. "That is love's endurance. That is what carries us forward."
It's unclear whether her eloquent, yet cryptically-timed message had anything to do with the photos of her ex cavorting with a pop star. But if it was related, it seems as though there is no bad blood between the exes.
Later that day, Grégoire shared several Instagram stories to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving, which also took place this year on Monday, October. 13.
In the first slide, the retired television host superimposed a message over a body of water that read, "Lucky to be alive, love, and more importantly, with family for Thanksgiving. Sending you light."
Subsequent photos showed a table set with seven place settings, a photo of the prepared feast, and finally, Trudeau with one of the couple's youngest child, 11-year-old Hadrien. (They also share Xavier, 17, and Ella-Grace 16.)

Trudeau and Grégoire were married for 18 years before they announced that they were separating in August 2023. The divorce has yet to be finalized, but in the meantime they're clearly putting forth a united front for their kids.
