“Does anything feel different being on the other side of the divorce finally being finalized?”
Deborra-Lee Furness has officially filed for divorce from actor Hugh Jackman.
The couple tied the knot in 1995 and were married for 27 years until their split in September 2023, which was reportedly “not a snap decision” and “very hard” on the pair, per People.
On May 27, The Daily Mail reported that the duo is one step away from finalizing their divorce.

According to the outlet, Furness, 69, filed her complaint in New York on May 23, and her lawyer submitted several other filings, including health care coverage details, medical child support order and a settlement.
The Daily Mail reported that the divorce is expected to be drama-less and is a judge’s signature away from being final.
Jackman, 59, and Furness share two adopted children together — son Oscar Maximilian, 23, and daughter Ava Eliot, 19.
The divorce comes less than two years after the couple announced their separation.
In an exclusive statement shared by People, Jackman and Furness wrote that they were “blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage.”
"Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” they wrote in the September 2023 statement. “We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.”
The divorce also comes five months after Jackman was spotted holding hands with actress Sutton Foster after a “low-key, laughter-filled” dinner date in Santa Monica, California, per People.
Furness opens up about ‘breakdown’ of marriage with Jackman
As news of the divorce was going viral, Furness released a statement shared by The Daily Mail.
In the statement, Furness alluded to “betrayal” in her relationship with Jackman and how she overcame the “breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage."
“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” she wrote, per The Daily Mail. “It’s a profound wound that cuts deep.”
Furness added that the divorce will lead her to her “greatest good” and her “true purpose.”
“It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom,” the statement continued.
Despite her cryptic take on the divorce, Furness clarified that “none of this is personal.”
“We are all on our individual journeys and I believe that the relationships in our lives are not random,” she explained, adding that she will “remain grateful.”
“We are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons,” she continued, “and to recognize and heal the broken parts of ourselves.”
While it’s unclear if Furness has started dating again, she recently appeared solo at the 2025 Parsons Benefit, which took place in New York City on May 20.
She most recently appeared in the 2024 film “Force of Nature: The Dry 2.”
