“This is going to sound cliche, but where your energy goes, your energy flows.”
Ryan Lochte doesn’t have time for allegations made by third parties.
The 40-year-old, 12-time Olympic medalist, who finished his career as the third-most decorated swimmer in Olympic history, is in the midst of an ongoing divorce with his wife, Kayla Reid.
Reid, who has been married to Lochte since 2018, filed for divorce in March, according to People.

In an exclusive statement shared by People on June 18, Lochte responded to claims about what led to the dissolution of his marriage, which he described as a “difficult and very personal time.”
“Kayla and I both wish to keep this matter private for many reasons, most importantly, to protect our children,” Lochte told People.
The couple share three children together — son Caiden, 8, and daughters Liv, 6, and Georgia, 2.
“For that reason, I also won’t be commenting on this matter, or replying to allegations made by third parties,” he added — further dismissing any “account of his relationship with Kayla,” per People.
Lochte’s comment comes after a source alleged to People that he had repeatedly cheated on his wife.
The source also credited the couple’s divorce to an “identity crisis” Lochte allegedly experienced as he “navigated life after being a famous swimmer,” according to People.
“It just got so bad that she actually felt like by leaving he’ll have to be court-mandated to get help, essentially. And that’s all she wants,” the source added, “is for him to be healthy and him to be well.”
According to People, the pair now live separately and barely communicate, unless it’s regarding their kids.
Lochte describes divorce as ‘the right step toward peace’
Lochte and Reid were first linked in April 2016 before going public with their relationship later that year.
The pair welcomed their first child, son Caiden, in 2017 before tying the knot the following year. Their two daughters, Liv and Georgia, followed in 2019 and 2023, respectively.
On June 4, Reid took to Instagram to share that she had filed for divorce from Lochte.
“I hold marriage in the highest regard, so this has been one of the most painful, revealing, and challenging seasons of my life,” she wrote, adding that she was “hesitant to share” the news until she felt ready.
The former Playboy model turned real estate agent further added that she made the decision to “protect our peace, our children, and our future.”
Later that day, Lochte released a statement on Instagram in which he described the decision as “the right step toward peace and well-being for us both.”
"This past year has brought major changes for both of us,” he wrote in the statement. “I’m deeply grateful for the life we’ve built together and especially for the love we share for our three children."
