Adam Scott and Adam Brody are in two completely different phases of parenting their two kids.
Scott, who shares two kids — son Graham, 18, and daughter Frankie, 16 — with his wife Naomi, per People, is already in the teenager phase and just a few years away from being an empty nester.
Brody, however, has a few more years before a teenager is living in his household.

The “Nobody Wants This” actor shares two kids — daughter Arlo, born in 2015, and a son, born in 2020, whose name has yet to be revealed — with his wife and fellow actress Leighton Meester, per People.
In an interview with Today, published Sept. 3, Scott gave Brody some pointers on raising teenagers.
“When they become full-fledged teenagers, they don’t want you to text them,” Scott said. “And if you do, it needs to be brief and you can’t use punctuation, or it’ll be embarrassing.”
“OK, so leave them alone,” Brody joked of the advice.
Scott went on to warn Brody that there’s nothing a parent can do to avoid embarrassing a teenager.
“So don’t try,” he continued. “You can’t even try to, like, be cool because it’ll never work. And the less they want you to text them, the more you should.”
Scott’s advice comes as the two Emmy-nominated actors are teaming up in a WhatsApp campaign.
The commercial, which premiered Sept. 3 on YouTube, shows how much different life can be for someone who uses WhatsApp (Brody) compared to someone who doesn’t (Scott).
In the video, both Adams used a group chat to throw a surprise party for a friend.
Brody’s party, which was scheduled through WhatsApp, was a major hit — but Scott’s wasn’t.

Adam Scott’s phone fail in the WhatsApp campaign is indicative of what life is like in the real world.
While talking to Today, Scott joked that he has a tendency to embarrass his kids with his phone — even when he doesn’t mean to.
“Being a dad of two teenagers, the thing that I do all the time that they just cannot wrap their heads around is the flashlight is constantly turning on on my phone,” he told the outlet.
“You would think that my pants just fell off. They get so embarrassed,” he added. “If I’m on my phone and my light goes on. You would think that the world was crashing down. It’s so devastating to them.”
But Adam Scott’s kids do have a group chat with their mom and dad — which he described as “hilarious.”
“Any text chain with two teenagers is bound to be funny,” he said of the group chat.
And while Adam Brody and Leighton Meester’s kids don’t have their own phone yet, he admitted that he does receive texts from his older daughter through an email she has for school.

“I don’t even know how it really works, but occasionally I get texts from her, or I get texts from her on my wife’s phone, but it’s very clearly her and it’s very adorable,” he added.
