“Once they do it well, nothing feels better as a parent.”
Brandi Cyrus offered a blunt response when asked why she doesn’t want kids.
The 38-year-old appeared on the July 15 episode of the “Boyfriend Material with Harry Jowsey” podcast with her mom, Tish Cyrus, when she admitted that she used to be “into dating someone with kids.”
But when it comes to having kids of her own, Brandi Cyrus quickly distanced herself.

“I don’t want my own kids,” Brandi Cyrus revealed to host Harry Jowsey, who immediately asked why.
“Oh, I don’t really like kids,” she replied without hesitation.
Her response is a little different than the ones her half-sister, Miley Cyrus, has given in the past.
“I still don’t know if I want kids or not. I feel like my fans kind of are my kids in some way,” she said in a 2024 interview with W Magazine, likening her mindset to that of her godmother Dolly Parton.
In a 2019 interview with Elle, Miley Cyrus blamed her hesitation on the unhealthy planet we live on.
“I refuse to hand that down to my child,” she told Elle at the time. “Until I feel like my kid would live on an Earth with fish in the water, I'm not bringing in another person to deal with that.”
Miley Cyrus is the daughter of Tish Cyrus and country music star Billy Ray Cyrus, who welcomed the singer-actress in 1992 — one year before they tied the knot in 1993, according to People.
Upon marrying, Billy Ray Cyrus adopted Tish Cyrus’s two kids from a previous relationship — daughter Brandi Cyrus and son Trace Cyrus, 36.
The former couple also share son Braison, 31, and daughter Noah, 25, while Billy Ray Cyrus shares son Christopher Cody, 33, with Kristen Luckey.
Brandi Cyrus reveals her ‘biggest red flags’ when dating
Elsewhere in her July 15 podcast appearance, Brandi Cyrus opened up about some of her ‘biggest red flags’ when it comes to men.
And most of her “deal breakers” came down to how men dress.
“There’s a lot. Uh, men in flip flops is my number one,” she told Jowsey. “I can’t stand men with flip flops. (Or) any shoe where a man has something between his toes.”
Jowsey joked that Brandi Cyrus is dating an Aussie, which could create a bit of conflict in the relationship — but, according to Brandi Cyrus, that bridge has already been crossed.
“Yeah, and he’s not allowed to wear flip flops,” she said of her boyfriend.
According to E! News, Brandi Cyrus is currently dating Matt Southcombe.
Southcombe is a “Queensland-born motorbike enthusiast” who “runs custom Harley restoration business Mountain Choppers,” per The Daily Mail.
He started appearing in Brandi Cyrus’s Instagram posts as early as Aug. 20 and has made regular appearances in her photo dumps in the year since.
Southcombe also regularly supports his girlfriend at her shows and performances.
In a July 10 photo on Instagram, the couple are wearing cowboy-inspired outfits as Brandi Cyrus wraps her arms around Southcombe’s shoulder.
She also posted photos of her and Southcombe in late June when she performed at the Sphere on the Las Vegas Strip, including a snap of the pair on a dinner date at her “favorite Vegas hotel” on June 26.
And while Brandi Cyrus said flip flops are a no-no for her boyfriend — as are dress shoes, especially when worn without socks — she did approve of two types of shoes: boots and crocs.
“What he wears, which everyone else is probably going to think is worse,” she said on Jowsey’s podcast. “The camo crocs. They’re a little sexy.”
She then turned to her mom, who didn’t agree, and asked, “Are you telling me Dad in the rainbow flip flops is better than Matt in crocs?”
“No, both are just bad,” Tish Cyrus replied.
Among Brandi Cyrus’s other red flags were men she considers to be a “mommy’s boy” and men who are rude.

“I can’t stand when someone’s rude, in general, but specifically to a server or Uber driver,” she said on the podcast. “I just don’t like when you’re rude to somebody in the service industry.
