“I had just read that book called ‘Signs.’”
Christian McCaffrey is admitting he feels guilty for getting a good nights sleep while his wife Olivia Culpo is up at night caring for their 4-week-old daughter.
McCaffrey and Culpo announced their daughter, Colette Annalise’s birth on July 13.
Following a day at training camp where Culpo, 33, and Colette were in attendance, McCaffrey told NFL Network that their daughter has been to a couple of practices so far since her arrival.
“Yeah, it's been incredible,” McCaffrey, 29, said of how his perspective on football has changed since becoming a father. “You know, getting done with practice, whether you had a good day or bad day, just being able to go there and see your daughter, it's very special.”
As for if the pre-season has been easier or harder since becoming father, McCaffrey said he’s seen the most change in what he does when he’s not training for the upcoming season.
“I think you just changed some of the stuff you do when you're not training,” the 49ers running back explained. “You know, my wife and our families do such a good job of helping out when needed and allowing me to still, you know, train and keep football first.”
While joking with McCaffrey, the reporters told him that they think he “timed it up perfectly” in terms of the timing of Colette’s birth, saying he doesn’t have to “deal with the sleepless nights.” “How is Olivia handling that,” they asked.

“She's been great, man. You know, she's been so cool,” McCaffrey continued. “Her mom came out and my mom came out and helped her out. I feel guilty at times,” he admitted. “I’m sleeping well in the hotel bedroom while she's doing the dirty work, but super thankful for and she's doing an incredible job.”
“That's good you feel guilty,” the reporter told McCaffrey. “That means you're a good dad. You're doing the right thing.”
McCaffrey’s comments come just a few weeks after telling NFL reporters that he’s been on CLOUD NINE ever since she was born. And, you know, it's definitely been special for me, life changing, that's for sure.”
McCaffrey and Culpo wed after five years of dating on June 29, 2024 in a lavish wedding in Rhode Island.
In March 2025, Culpo announced their pregnancy on Instagram.
