“Monsters, Inc. 3” is reportedly in the works at Pixar. Here's everything we know about Mike and Sully's return.
Drew Barrymore may be a busy talk show host, but spending time with her daughters, Olive, 13, and Frankie, 11, is still her biggest priority.
Recently, Barrymore took questions from the live studio audience of The Drew Barrymore Show, where one mom asked her for advice on how to make sure she gets to spend enough time with her kids, and whether she has any tips for getting one-on-one time when you have more than one kid.
"This is going to sound so weird, but I'm from California, so we're big drivers. I have a minivan, [and] we pile in the minivan all the time, and they love to go to the gas station and buy snacks. Like, America's best restaurant is at your local gas station," she shared as the audience chuckled.
Barrymore continued, "We just kind of drive places. In that magical box, I feel like, we just... we listen to music all the time, we're constantly turning each other on to new songs."
She then went on to say that she also tries to take her daughters to concerts and the movie theaters whenever she gets the chance.
"Individual time with them is really important," Barrymore reiterated in the clip. "Another thing I like to do [is] I'm like 'bring all your friends over!' My house is headquarters."
The mom from the audience that Barrymore was speaking to then said she feels bad because her kids tell her that they don't get enough one-on-one time with her.
"Have you asked them, 'Okay, I hear you when you say you want the individual time. What does that look like? What are we doing?'" Barrymore asked the mom before adding, "By the way, I just thought of it now! And it's so funny because it can be like, 'I wanna go for a pizza,' and you're like 'oh my god that's so doable, I was worried you were gonna be like I wanna go to the Swiss Alps or something.'"
Barrymore then reinforced to the audience that the woman asking the question was doing an amazing job as a mom, just by trying to figure out what would make her kids feel more seen.
In a September interview with Real Simple, Barrymore shared that she, too, can feel the pressure of trying to balance life with being a "perfect" parent.
“When I get burnout from trying to mom really hard and work really hard, I go, 'You know what? This isn’t good,'" she shared with the magazine. "And I know that at the end of the day, the most important thing in life is your relationships. If I’m not putting that first, then I’m on the wrong track."
In the comments of the clip from the show, fans were loving Barrymore's simple but meaningful advice.
"Omgggg that is what I use to do with my family! We would go to the gas station all of the time and then go on 2-3 hours drives while we are listening to music, talking!" one fan commented on the post.
"Movie Star and Mini-Van mom! All the things she does sound like a great way to spend quality time with your kids!I Love You Drew!" another fan added.
