“Anything that’s too realistic or has eyes that are too realistic, we’re out. We’re not doing it.”
Hardy is opening up about his experience as a first-time dad for the past six months.
The 35-year-old country music star, whose full name is Michael Wilson Hardy, welcomed his first child — a daughter named Rosie Ryan — with his wife, Caleigh Hardy, on March 7.
The couple announced the news in an Instagram post two days later — and Rosie was already smiling.
Now six months later, Hardy is opening up about how his little girl is doing during an appearance on the “God’s Country” podcast with hosts (and brothers) Dan and Reid Isbell, both of whom are also fathers.
And it appears Rosie’s smiles were a small glimpse of what was to come for the newly minted parents.
“We got really lucky with her,” Hardy said on the podcast. “She’s just happy. Like, you could put her in the middle of this floor and she could just entertain herself for like an hour. She’s just so content.”
“She’s never uncomfortable. It’s like she wines if she’s hungry or she’s tired — and that’s literally it,” he added.
The “TRUCK BED” singer’s baby update also came with quite a bold parenting take.

“Having one kid is easy. I don’t care what anybody says,” he told the Isbell brothers. “And we don’t have help. Like, we don’t have a nanny or nothing. We’re doing everything, you know, just us.”
He did, however, admit that adding another child would complicate things.
“I can’t imagine having, you know, one that’s pooping in their diaper and then the other one’s running around,” he continued.
The Isbell brothers went on to warn Hardy that parenting one child doesn’t get any easier — especially once they turn three years old and start “manipulating” you.
Hardy opens up about how life has changed since becoming a father
Hardy first started talking to his wife in 2018 when he slid into her DMs while touring the country, according to People.
The couple finally met when he performed at her college and started dating shortly after.
After three years of dating, the couple announced their engagement and tied the knot in October 2022 at Diamond Creek Farms in Nashville. The pregnancy announcement followed two years later.
While talking to the Isbell brothers, Hardy opened up about how his life has changed since Rosie’s birth.
“I noticed this the other day,” he said. “Like, do I have time to go take a leak, all the way to, like, how many shows should I play next year and everything in between — it all revolves around having a little kid.”
“It literally is just not about you,” he added.
As for his baby Rosie, she’s already hitting some important milestones.
While she’s not crawling yet, she has been sitting up for about two weeks and recently did her “first little butt scoot thing,” per Hardy.

He went on to admit that they had a little trouble getting her to sleep, but have since sleep-trained her and is now sleeping fine 5-7 days out of the week.
