“If I’m twitching weird it’s because it’s pandemonium.”
Hilary Duff’s daughter is asking what many fans have been wondering for two decades.
The 38-year-old former Disney star was rewatching old scenes from some of her most iconic roles during an interview with Vanity Fair when a scene from “A Cinderella Story” (2004) appeared on the screen.
In the scene, co-star Chad Michael Murray’s character, Austin, was about to take off the mask Duff’s character, Sam, was wearing when she abruptly left.
She then returned to work just in time to avoid being punished by her stepmom — leaving Austin hanging in suspense.

For years, fans have asked the same question: “How did Austin not know Sam was behind the mask?”
After all, the mask wasn’t very convincing and only hid half of Sam’s face — and it was so obvious that even a 4-year-old could recognize Sam.
Just ask Hilary Duff’s daughter.
"My 4-year-old has watched this movie and also picked up on like, how could he not know it's you in that mask? And I was like, 'It's the age-old question, honey,' " Duff said of her daughter, Mae.
"And she's like, 'But it's you. You are right there. I don't understand. How does he not know?'” she recalled, mimicking her daughter’s voice. “I'm like, 'I know.'"
Duff shares three daughters — Banks Violet, born in 2018, Mae James, born in 2021, and Townes Meadow, born in 2023 — with her husband Matthew Koma, according to People.
She’s also a mom to 13-year-old son Luca Cruz, whom she shares with her ex-husband Mike Comrie.
Hilary Duff shares what she liked most about ‘A Cinderella Story’

Released in 2004, “A Cinderella Story” quickly became a staple of early-2000s teen movies.
Alongside Duff and Michael Murray, the film also starred Jennifer Coolidge as Sam’s unforgettable stepmom and Regina King as her supportive confidante.
In her interview with Vanity Fair, Duff opened up about what she liked most about the film.

“I remember the producer was the same I think from ‘Agent Cody Banks,’” she said of producer Dylan Sellers. “And I remember reading the script and just feeling like it was funny.”
“You read a lot of bad scripts,” she added. “I liked that it was Cinderella but a modern, kind of normal version.”
Duff was also surprised to share the screen with other legendary actors.
“And then Regina King was cast, which obviously was super exciting, she’s so amazing. And Jennifer Coolidge and obviously Chad Michael Murray. I think everyone had a crush on him,” she said.
Duff went on to admit that Coolidge “scared me a little bit” because of her on-screen presence.
“I wouldn’t say that she was method because she definitely was normal on set at times, but she would slip into this — and it was just so amazing to watch,” she said of Coolidge.

“She was such a larger-than-life character and she was so mean that I remember just being a little scared,” she added.
