As most parents and elementary school teachers will tell you, kids love to tell stories about what goes on in their lives.
Hilary Duff’s husband wasted no time in defending his wife from “toxic” claims.
Matthew Koma, who has been married to the “How I Met Your Father” star since 2019, took to his Instagram Story on Jan. 6 to share an obvious dig at his wife’s longtime friend Ashley Tisdale.
For those who missed it, Tisdale wrote an essay titled “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group,” published by “The Cut” on Jan. 6, that has caused widespread speculation online.
Many eagle-eyed fans theorized that Duff was among the friends in that mom group.

On Jan. 6, Koma appeared to photoshop his face onto a picture of the former “High School Musical” star, which was used as the cover of Ashley Tisdale’s “Toxic Mom Group” essay.
Koma replaced the essay’s title with a title of his own.
“When You're The Most Self Obsessed Tone Deaf Person On Earth, Other Moms Tend To Shift Focus To Their Actual Toddlers,” he wrote. “A Mom Group Tell All Through A Father’s Eyes.”
“Read my new interview with @TheCut,” he added in a text overlay.
Hilary Duff’s husband wasn’t the only one of her family members to pick a side in the online beef.
According to Page Six, Hilary Duff’s sister, Haylie Duff, appeared to side against the “Lizzie McGuire” star when she reportedly liked The Cut’s promo image of Ashley Tisdale’s “Mom Group” essay.
Are Hilary Duff and Ashley Tisdale still friends?

Hilary Duff and Ashley Tisdale have been close friends since 2021, according to Us Weekly.
At the time, Duff had just given birth to her second child with Koma, daughter Mae James, and Tisdale had just welcomed her first child with husband Christopher French, daughter Jupiter Iris.
Duff and Tisdale’s friendship has continued in the years since, but fans have questioned that friendship over the past week — fueled by the essay and the fact they no longer follow each other on Instagram.
Despite the “toxic” claims, Tisdale has denied that the essay was about Duff.
In fact, Tisdale’s rep told TMZ on Jan. 5 that “there’s zero truth to what online ‘detectives’ think they’ve cracked” and that the essay wasn’t about Duff, Mandy Moore or Meghan Trainor.
Koma’s spicy Instagram Story was posted the following day before being deleted.
In addition to Mae James, Duff also shares two other kids — daughters Banks Violet, 7, and Townes Meadow, 1 — with Koma and 13-year-old son Cruz with ex-husband Mike Comrie, per People.
