Jason Isaacs says his daughters are ‘not remotely impressed’ by his successful acting career

Ryan Brennan | August 26, 2025

Jason Isaacs might be a first-time Emmy nominee this year — but he’s just a dad to his two daughters.

The 62-year-old English actor earned his first-ever Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series for his role in “The White Lotus” Season 3 — marking a significant milestone for Isaacs.

But even that wasn’t enough to impress his two daughters.

"They're not remotely impressed by what I do for a living,” Isaacs told People at the inaugural Televerse Festival on Aug. 16.

Isaacs went on to explain that he recently traveled to Montreal from Dublin, where he’s currently shooting a film, to help his daughter furnish her apartment — and that’s about all she could care about right now.

“I went to Montreal for a couple of days to put my daughter's shelves up and put pictures up and blinds and take her shopping and get furniture for [her] apartment,” he told the outlet.

“That's all she cares about — and that's all she should care about with your parents,” he joked.

The “Harry Potter” alum, who played Lucius Malfoy, shares two daughters — Lily, 23, and Ruby, 20 — with his wife Emma Hewitt, whom he has been married to for more than 25 years, per The Mirror

And even though “Harry Potter” is one of the most successful film series of all-time, even that didn’t impress his daughters.

"They hated it,” he said of his daughters, according to The Mirror.

“Always found it embarrassing. You want to be introduced as yourself, and not, ‘This is my friend. Oh, by the way, her dad’s Lucius Malfoy,’” he added.

Jason Isaacs isn’t used to the attention his Emmy nomination brings

In his Aug. 16 interview with People, Isaacs admitted that he tries to not think about his Emmy nomination.

"I don't mean that it's not incredibly flattering and lovely," he told the outlet. "I just know that I've been doing this job for a very, very long time, and very rarely do you get this kind of attention."

Jason Isaacs’ “White Lotus” character, Timothy Ratliff, made his debut on the show earlier this year and appeared in all eight episodes of Season 3, which came to a conclusion on April 6, according to IMDB

Isaacs credited his first-ever Emmy nomination to Mike White, the creator of the show.

"I just had a fantastic part," Isaacs told People of his role. "I felt like I won an award just getting the part and getting to do it and getting to stretch all those muscles and have all those challenges."

He went on to admit that he’ll “feel like an imposter” at the awards ceremony, but he’s excited for it.

"I kind of look forward to it and I'm kind of scared of it," he added. "I get completely starstruck by everybody whose work I admire.”

Other notable first-time Primetime Emmy nominations this year include Adam Brody and Kristen Bell for “Nobody Wants This” and Harrison Ford for his role in “Shrinking,” per the nomination announcement.

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on CBS and will be available to stream on Paramount+, according to Television Academy.
