"We're going through that again with another kid leaving the nest and trying to stay emotionally stable.”
Jenna Bush Hager isn’t a fan of the term “mom friends” — and shared a good reason why.
During the July 11 episode of “TODAY with Jenna & Friends,” the 43-year-old host was talking about “parenting in a pod” and how much of a gift it is to be “close with your friends’ kids.”
But while she admits to having a lot of “mom friends,” she hates labeling them as such.

“I sort of hate that term because it implies they’re not my true friends,” Bush Hager explained to Hall of Fame NBA player Dwyane Wade, who filled in as her guest host last week.
“But some of my best ‘mom friends’ are from the time I had my 12-year-old,” she clarified. “We were all in this baby group together.”
She went on to admit that one of her “best friends in the world” came from that very same baby group.
“And now we have pre-teens. And so, to go through every stage of life together? I think it is necessary to have that community,” Bush Hager continued.
Bush Hager shares three children — daughters Mila, 12, and Poppy, 9, and son Hal, 5 — with her husband Henry Hager, whom she has been married to since 2008, according to Today.com.
Wade, who agreed with Bush Hager’s sentiment, spoke on the difficulty of finding such friends.
“It’s hard to find. Especially for us, it’s hard to find community always,” Wade said of himself and his wife Gabrielle Union, who share a 6-year-old daughter named Kaavia, per People.
In a June 14 Instagram post, the couple announced that Kaavia has graduated kindergarten and will soon be moving on to the first grade.
Wade tells Bush Hager that he has 'mom and dad' friends
“But we have it now,” Wade continued — adding that he has a few “mom and dad” friends from his daughter’s school.
“It’s like a community you can grow with, you know?” Wade explained.
Later in the discussion, Wade doubled down on the importance of having a relationship with the parents of his kids’ friends — not just for the parents but for the kids, too.
"One, for them to allow their kids to come over or vice versa, but also two, if their parents are going to come over, [you got to get along]," Wade concluded.
In addition to his daughter Kaavia, Wade shares two kids — Zaire, 23, and Zaya, 18 — with his ex-wife Siovaughn Funches and another child — 11-year-old son Xavier — with Aja Metoyer, per People.
