Jessica Chastain’s parenting advice for Derek Hough proves she knows a thing or two about babies

Jessica Chastain is no stranger to being a mom — and her parenting advice proves it. 

In an interview conducted by dad-to-be Derek Hough on Sept. 9, the 48-year-old Academy Award-winning actress was asked if she had any advice for the former “Dancing with the Stars” pro. 

After pondering for a moment, the mother of two suggested that he invest in a Snoo bassinet. 

“A Snoo is a bed for babies that kind of mimics the womb. So, it makes the sound like the womb. If the baby starts to cry, it helps the baby sleep,” Chastain said in a clip shared by ExtraTV. 

“It’s constantly moving, just like the baby does in the womb,” she added. 

Hough and Nnamdi Asomugha, a father of three who co-stars in “The Savant” with Chastain, were visibly surprised that the product (which they were unaware of) existed. 

According to Chastain, the bassinet helps the baby sleep better — which means parents sleep better too. 

“I’ve bought it for all of my friends that have kids,” she admitted.

“Done,” Hough said of her baby advice before turning to the camera. “Babe, I’m bringing home a Snoo.”

Chastain shares two kids — daughter Giuletta, 7, and son Augustus, 5 — with her husband and fashion executive Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, whom she has been married to since 2017, per People.

Asomugha, who retired from the NFL in 2013, shares two kids — daughter Isabelle, 11, and son Caleb, 8 — with his wife and actress Kerry Washington, according to People. 

He also has a teenage daughter from a previous relationship, per the outlet. 

On July 26, Hough and his wife Hayley Erbert — whom he tied the knot with in 2023 after eight years of dating, per E! News — announced that they were expecting their first child together. 

“Already so loved,” he wrote in an Instagram caption alongside a photo of them holding ultrasound photos.

Hough and Eybert have shared progress updates in the months since their shocking baby announcement.

“I can’t stop looking at this freakin cute bump happening,” Hough wrote in an Instagram video where he showed off Eybert’s growing baby bump. 

One day later, Hough shared a video of him and his wife swimming in the ocean alongside a giant manta ray. In the caption, he pointed out that it was their “baby’s first swim with a Giant Manta.” 

On Aug. 27, the couple celebrated their two-year wedding anniversary. 

“These years with you have been the best journey, and now we get to start the most beautiful chapter, our family,” Hough wrote in the caption of his anniversary post. 

“I love our walks in nature, “admiring grass” side by side, and I can’t wait to see you as the amazing mama I know you’ll be. Here’s to all the adventures ahead, together,” he added. 

He later joked in a separate Instagram video that getting his wife pregnant saved her from nine months of period cramps. 

On Sept. 8, Eybert posted a few photos and videos from a recent photoshoot the couple did together. 

“That’s my warrior woman. My heart is overflowing with love for you and our future little one,” Hough wrote in he comment section.

More recently, on Sept. 13, Hough posted more clips from the photoshoot set to Justin Bieber’s hit song “GO BABY.”
