“It's way too expensive and silly, but it makes everybody happy.”
John Stamos’ son isn’t afraid to name drop his dad — especially if it earns him points at school.
The 62-year-old actor, best known as Uncle Jesse from “Full House” or Dr. Tony Gates from “ER,” opened up about life at home with his 7-year-old son Billy in an interview with E! News, published Oct. 1.
At one point in the interview, Stamos revealed that his son watches “Full House” — but not because he enjoys the show.
“He watches it to mock me,” Stamos told E! News' correspondent Will Marfuggi.
He then recalled telling his son to put his Legos away when his son replied, “You got it, dude!” — one of Jesse’s iconic catchphrases from the show.
Billy also uses his dad’s famous “have mercy” line often, but also in a mocking way. “Not like it’s cool or anything,” Stamos explained.
But when Billy isn’t mocking his father, he’s using his fame to score points with the girls at school.
While at his new school, Billy was asked to write down some of his favorite things, including his favorite TV show — and one of his classmates who was sitting next to him put “Fuller House.”

For those who don’t know, “Fuller House” served as a sequel to the popular 1990s family sitcom "Full House." It premiered in 2016 and ran for five seasons before ending in 2020, according to IMDB.
Noticing an opportunity, Billy proceeded to tell the girl that his dad played Uncle Jesse on that show — and the girl was understandably impressed by the discovery.
“He’s using it with the girls, which is fine,” Stamos told E! News.
John Stamos previously opened up about his son’s obsession with ‘Full House’
Stamos shares his lone son with his wife Caitlin McHugh, whom he met in 2011 while filming “Law & Order: SVU,” according to People.
The couple announced their engagement in October 2017, revealed they were pregnant with their first child in December of that year and tied the knot in February 2018.
Billy, who was named after Stamos’ father, was born two months later.

While Billy was never a fan of “Full House,” the show started to grow on him once Bob Saget — who played Stamos’ on-screen brother-in-law Danny Tanner on the show — died on Jan. 9, 2022.
One month after his death, Stamos shared a video of Billy watching the show on Instagram.
“Billy was never interested in Full House and I was perfectly fine with that,” he wrote in the caption. “Bob died, now he’s obsessed! I blame Bob.”
“This is funny,” Billy said of the show into the camera.
More recently, on April 10, Stamos took to Instagram to share a tribute for his son on his 7th birthday.
“Today our Billy boy turns 7. SEVEN. A magical, chaotic, hilarious, action-packed, deep-feeling, big-hearted SEVEN,” he wrote in the caption.
The attention was then turned to John Stamos’ wife — who he described as the “real hero of April 10th.”
“Seven years ago, she did all the work. The real work. The growing-a-whole-human-inside-her-body work. The nine months of sacrifice, nausea, back pain, no-sleep, all-love work,” he continued.
