“I am so lucky that I have such smart, loving, resilient children who have been there for me.”
Khloé Kardashian says there is “no shame” in needing help as a parent.
The 41-year-old reality star and Good American co-founder took to her “Khloé in Wonder Land” podcast on July 24 to open up about parenting, co-parenting, mom guilt and mom-shaming.
At one point in the episode, Kardashian shared that she sometimes goes several days without seeing her kids.

“When I travel, or even if I have a shoot — we’ve done a few photoshoots that are in California, but it’ll be a two-day shoot and my contract could have me for 15 hours and the next day the same,” she explained.
Kardashian shares two kids — daughter True, 7, and son Tatum, who turns three on July 28 — with NBA player Tristan Thompson, according to People.
“So, literally, I will go home, sleep for a few hours, and I have to go back,” she added. “So, I don’t see my kids for those two days.”
Kardashian went on to reveal that she hired a nanny to help her care for the kids when she’s not home.
While she admitted to feeling guilty whenever she has to leave her kids, the mom of two pushed back on the narrative that parents should be ashamed for needing help.
“We all have help in some capacity,” Kardashian said on her podcast. “You can call it daycare, you can call it a school, you can call it in-laws, your mother, sister, whoever. A babysitter."
She then questioned why some parents find the term “babysitter” less offensive than “nanny.”
“We’re all blessed, and it takes a village to raise a family," she continued. "I do not understand the shame that people give to other people for having people help them with their kids. There is no shame in that.”
Kardashian describes herself as a ‘control freak’ when leaving kids
While Kardashian says she needs her village, she also admitted that she can be a little controlling when trusting that village with her kids.
“I’m a control freak. I micromanage,” she said on the podcast. “I just feel like if I don’t do it, it doesn’t get done. I’m insane.”
Kardashian went on to reveal the lengths she’s willing to go to ensure her kids have everything they need when she’s not around.
And that includes making True’s lunches for school, labeling her snacks for the day and planning her school outfits for however long she’s away for.
“I know how she likes things done,” Kardashian said of her daughter.
“I check the weather. I feel like people don’t check the weather, so I check the weather every day to do her uniforms,” she added.
As for her son, Kardashian said Tatum’s checklist looks “different” than his sister’s.
“I read him bedtime books every day, and I know the bedtime books he likes. And so, we leave those out, and it’s just specific,” she explained.

“I also think about, ‘Okay, now when Tatum goes to school — next year — I’m going to have to do this for two kids?’ Like, ‘Ah.’ It’s a lot,” the podcast host added.
