Kylie Kelce reveals the ‘selfish’ reason she decided to stop breastfeeding her 9-month-old daughter

Ryan Brennan | December 19, 2025

When it comes to breastfeeding her daughter, Kylie Kelce has a line — and that line was crossed.

The 33-year-old mom of four took to her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast on Dec. 18 to reveal that she recently began the process of weaning her 9-month-old daughter, Finnley, from breastfeeding to baby formula.

The topic came up when she shared a viral video of a baby who was struggling to accept the process.

“I’m currently in the midst of weaning Finny. So, this TikTok really hit my feed at the right time. I swear to God, they know,” she said 16 minutes into her podcast.

The video shows a baby crying on her father’s lap because she was hungry — but mom wouldn’t let her breastfeed. Instead, mom (who was recording the video) tried to give her a bottle of chocolate milk.

When mom held up the bottle, many viewers were quick to point out the bite marks on the straw.

“The first comment that I saw was, ‘We all saw the straw. We’re all on team mom,’” Kylie said of the comments — further describing the straw as “crimped” as if a “piranha went at it.”

“Like a hydraulic press. Okay, like some hydraulic pressed the top of the straw,” she continued.

Kylie went on to say that she would’ve cut her baby off too because the straw “could have been mom’s nipple” — and it’s the same reason why she decided to begin the weaning process with Finnley.

“As selfish as this may sound, that’s where I draw the line,” she said. “That’s aggressively where I draw the line. That’s where I’ve drawn the line for all of my other children.”

She further admitted that she has “never breastfed a child past them getting teeth” — and since baby Finn is “about to cut a tooth,” she feels it’s time to transition to formula feeding.

Jason and Kylie Kelce, who have been married since 2018, share four daughters — Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finnley, born in March — together, according to TODAY.

In her podcast, Kylie admitted to breastfeeding her three older daughters for 7-8 months before stopping — and confirmed that breastfeeding Finnley for nine months was the longest she had ever done it.

Despite describing it as “selfish,” Kylie stood by her decision to stop breastfeeding baby Finn.

She said that she was “very fortunate to have been able to breastfeed” because not everyone who wants to can, but this was her choice — and she doesn’t care what her fans (or haters) think about it.

“My girls have switched to formula and guess what? I have a six-year-old who is learning to read, who can write, she is thriving,” Kylie said of her decision.

“Fed is best,” she added.

The “breastfed vs formula fed” argument is one of the biggest debates in parenting.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that children “be exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months of life — meaning no other foods or liquids are provided, including water.”

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, breastmilk is the “perfect food” for a baby and contains the “right amount of nutrients” to support growth and development.

But that’s not to say formula doesn’t have its benefits — especially for those unable to breastfeed or unable to produce enough breastmilk.

According to WebMD, formula feeding is the “best possible alternative to breast milk.”

It’s often more convenient, less time-consuming, allows parents to be flexible with their newborn feeding schedule and gives the father an opportunity to help as much as possible.

As for when to stop breastfeeding, parents are generally directed to make that decision for themselves — whenever it feels right.
