Mark Wahlberg is sharing a positive update on his daughter Grace,15, after a frightening horseback riding accident during an equestrian competition sent her to the hospital.
Speaking with Access Hollywood while promoting his upcoming movie The Family Plan 2, Wahlberg reassured fans that Grace is recovering well. “She’s doing great. Thank you for asking,” he said. “It was terrifying, you know. It’s a very, very dangerous sport, but she’s so passionate about it.”
Wahlberg added that despite the scare, Grace was eager to return to riding as soon as possible. “All she wanted to do is get back on that horse—no pun intended,” he joked.
“She was just chomping at the bit and worried we would deem the sport too dangerous, but she is so passionate and so dedicated.”
The actor also praised his daughter’s discipline and commitment to the sport. “For her to have the discipline of getting up at 4:00 in the morning, going to the barn seven days a week, doing whatever she has to do to care for the horses and her training… I kind of adopted that discipline when I became a parent, and for her to have it at such a young age is amazing.”
Wahlberg later expressed gratitude for the support their family has received. “It’s very, very scary, and I thank everybody for their support and well wishes.”
On November 2, Grace shared a carousel of photos on Instagram, opening with an image of herself in a hospital bed wearing a sling.
Other photos showed her back on horseback and walking in her equestrian gear. She also included an old photo of Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans celebrating a victory.
“No pressure we will be back,” she captioned the post.
Both of her parents commented with encouragement—Mark commented, “🙏😢🙏.”, while her mom, Rhea Wahlberg, wrote, “No doubt kid.”
On November 4 Grace shared additional photos on Instagram with her horse, writing in the caption, “special couldnt be anymore special. wishing i could be in the ring with him”.
Besides 15-year-old Grace, Mark and Rhea share Brendan, 17, Michael, 19, and Ella, 22 together.
The pair met in 2001 and tied the knot in 2009. In 2018 Wahlberg opened up to The Sun about their relationship and said, “I owe a lot to my wife. She has helped me become the man that I am and created a beautiful life for me and our children."
The actor continued, "I also knew that she loved me for who I am and that she was someone I could trust. Until I met her, I wasn't ready to get married."
