Teddy Swims is opening up about his life at home as a first-time dad.
The 33-year-old Grammy-nominated singer, best known for his hit song “Lose Control,” welcomed his first child — a baby boy — with girlfriend Raiche Wright on June 23.
Now nearly five months later, Swims, whose real name is Jaten Collin Dimsdale, already learning some of the ins-and-outs of parenting — even if that means acting like he knows what he’s doing when he clearly doesn’t.
At least that’s how he described his role as a first-time dad in an interview with People, published Nov. 11.
"I could so easily mess this up, but as long as I act in the right heart and the right mentality and the right intention … I just look like I know what I'm doing," Swims candidly told the outlet.
He went on to describe fatherhood as a “terrifying thing” that comes with plenty of “incredible” moments.
“Every time I look at him, I was like, ‘Hey.’ He just smiles at me,” he continued. “And I know he knows we have a relationship, which is something so incredible that’s only going to get deeper and more beautiful.”
“It’s such an amazing thing, and there’s nothing like it in the world,” Swims added.

Swims and Wright revealed that they were expecting their first child in a Jan. 8 Instagram post that showed the couple cuddling on a beach together as he placed his hands on her baby bump.
They confirmed the baby’s arrival on June 27, four days after Wright gave birth to him.
And Swims’ baby boy has been smiling ever since.
While talking to People, Swims recalled a time when he had just put his baby to sleep — just to wake up crying shortly after.
“So he's crying, and I went and picked him up … I was like, ‘Baby, you're not alone. Nobody's abandoning you, baby. Dad's right here.’ And he looked at me and smiled so big,” Swims said.

As for Swims’ girlfriend, the singer says motherhood was “a part of her absolute being.”
Swims said it didn’t take long for him to realize that motherhood was something Wright was destined for and how “second nature” it was for her to step into that role after the baby was born.
“It’s like she didn’t become a mother. She just was all of a sudden a mother. It wasn’t like no becoming of this. It was just like it happened and then she was a mother and she just got it,” he added.

“She’s just so in tune and so close to that baby. It’s a part of her absolute being," he continued.
The couple were first spotted in February 2024, per People, and started appearing on each other’s Instagram accounts a few months later.
While they have yet to reveal their little boy’s name, they did give him a placeholder name when he was still in the womb.
“Until we find a name, we’re just calling boy or girl ‘Baby Buc-ee. I’m going to call it Buc-ee, I don’t care what the name is,’” he said during a Jan. 31 appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
The name stemmed from the fact that they learned of the pregnancy while wearing matching Buc-ee’s onesies — which they bought at a nearby Buc-ee’s store just hours before.

“She’d never been to a Buc-ee’s before, which is my favorite place in the whole world. And so I was like, you gotta go. Half my wardrobe is Buc-ee’s," he explained on the show.
