"I'm thankful to be able to have three and be the best dad that I can be. It's the best title you have in this life.”
One mom’s years-long journey with fertility issues resulted in a pair of "twiblings."
In an interview with “Newsweek,” published Dec. 14, Mia Kaercher — a 31-year-old first-time mom from Las Vegas — opened up about her inspiring journey to becoming a newly-minted mom of two.
Kaercher and her husband had been wanting to start a family for years, and eventually decided to pursue parenthood via surrogacy, undergoing an embryo transfer in January with the hopes of a positive pregnancy.

After a 10-day waiting period, Kaercher and her husband learned that their surrogate was pregnant.
"This felt like the biggest step forward and finally a chance to start our family. We were overjoyed," Kaercher told “Newsweek.”
But not long after, Kaercher and her husband would take yet another big step forward.
Still hoping to one day carry a child of her own, Kaercher started to make various lifestyle changes, hoping to turn that dream into reality — including eating better, healing and undergoing acupuncture.
"A few days in, I felt more uncomfortable than ever rather than feeling better as I hoped for. That’s when we thought something may be off and took a pregnancy test,” she told the outlet.
That’s the moment she learned of her surprise pregnancy. The laughter and tears of joy quickly followed.
Kaercher welcomed a set of ‘twiblings’ earlier this year
In 2025, Kaercher welcomed a boy and girl less than two months apart.
The couple’s first child — a boy named Woods — was born on Sept. 26 via their surrogate. Their second child — a girl named Cohyn — followed six weeks later on Nov. 7.

"When Woods was born, it was surreal; a little human that was half me and half my husband? What a gift,” Kaercher told “Newsweek.”
“When Cohyn arrived, it was incredible to have my mom and husband there, and our son being a part of the experience. It was uniquely beautiful and the perfect way to add our daughter to our amazing family," she added.
Kaercher has documented her journey on TikTok and introduced Cohyn to her followers on Nov. 17.
In the video, she explained that Cohyn was her late grandmother’s maiden name, while Barrett — the baby girl’s middle name — was an ode to her father, Barry.
As for her big brother, Kaercher revealed in an Oct. 1 video that Woods’ name has “family ties,” but is also simply a name the couple liked because Kaercher’s husband “loves golf.”
Kaercher has dubbed her two babies “twiblings” since they’re not twins but are close in age.
"I’m so grateful for my healthy growing family, the platform and community we’ve built,” she told “Newsweek.”

“I just want all women, and men, to advocate for themselves, their health, and trust their intuitions, because, if I hadn’t, I would never been in the situation I am now living my dream,” she added.
