Jesse McCartney’s newborn son is taking center stage.
The 38-year-old singer-actor took to Instagram on June 17 to reveal that he and his wife, Katie Peterson, have welcomed their first baby — a son named Archer James McCartney.
In the joint Instagram post, the couple revealed that baby Archer was born May 7.

“Our sweet Archie couldn’t wait to meet us and arrived a bit earlier than expected,” they wrote. “We are so in love with him. He loves when mommy reads him a book and when daddy sings him off to sleep.”
The post included five photos of the little one, who was dressed in a custom white and blue onesie that read, “Asher,” and a bow sash saddle personalized with his “AJM” initials.
The newborn was also photographed in front of a large stuffed teddy bear.
“We look forward to bringing him home very soon to meet his big sister Bailey, who sleeps with his blanket every night,” the pair added in the caption, referring to their dog, Bailey.
“Enjoy some cute pictures of our little fighter, Archer,” the caption concluded.
McCartney and Peterson first met in a bar in 2012, according to People. Peterson was bartending at the time — and McCartney left his number for her on a napkin. They went on their first date a few days later.
McCartney proposed seven years later and the couple got married in 2021.
On Feb. 14, the pair took to Instagram to reveal their pregnancy for the first time. To mark the occasion, they wore matching black pajamas with “Mom” and “Dad” written on the breast pocket.
According to the caption, baby Archer was initially due August 8, but arrived more than a month early.
McCartney has openly discussed wanting to be a father
For Jesse McCartney, fatherhood is something he’s been looking forward to for quite some time.
In 2024, the singer released a song titled “Make a Baby” with fellow artist Yung Gravy. And while he and his wife weren’t pregnant at the time, he later admitted that they were close.
"That's the path we're traveling down at this moment,” he said in a March 2024 interview with E! News. "To be clear, we're not pregnant. But it's something we've discussed.”
In the music video for the song, McCartney and Yung Gravy were surrounded by pregnant women as they cradled dolls and toasted one another with baby bottles.
And the two artists knew what they were doing when they filmed it.
"We were playing into that quite a bit,” McCartney told E! News about creating hype for the song. "We knew it would elicit the reaction that it did, cause some commotion on the internet."
McCartney went on to add that being a father was the game plan, but it didn’t come without fear.
"The general idea of having to keep something alive is very scary to me," McCartney told the outlet.

"We've done a pretty good job with our dog, but it pales in comparison to the responsibility of taking care of a human child,” he added.
