“Maternity leave is not a break or a vacation that is a crazy concept."
Katrina Bowden didn’t have to wait long to receive good news.
The 33-year-old “30 Rock” actress revealed that she was expecting her first baby with husband Adam Taylor in an exclusive interview with People, published May 30.
"We had just started trying, so we didn't expect it to happen so fast," Bowden told the outlet.

The news comes a little more than six months after the pair tied the knot. According to People, who broke the news at the time, the beach wedding took place in Hawaii on Nov. 8.
Now in her second trimester, per People, the expectant mother is sharing how she learned of the news.
"Adam was on a ski trip with his friends, and I took a test. I was going to wait until he got home, but I couldn't wait," she told the outlet.
"Then, I told him when he got home, and we were both very excited, so ... I was really hard to keep it to myself for a full day,” she added.
Bowden and Taylor went public with their relationship in October 2021 and dated for several years before Bowden proposed in 2023 on a beach in the Amalfi Coast, per People.
They got married one year later — and now they’re preparing to take their relationship to the next level.
"It definitely has brought us closer together," Bowden told People of the baby news. "In the beginning, it was a little bit scary, and it's still a little bit scary because it's something so unknown and so different.”
“Talking about how we want to parent, names, just preparing for something that we've never had to think about before,” she continued, “it's definitely bonded us in a way that we've never bonded before."
Bowden says she’s looking forward to traveling as a family of three
In her interview with People, Bowden opened up about the some of the symptoms she’s feeling.
While she describes her pregnancy as “pretty good” overall, she did experience morning sickness early on and has been “really tired” over the past few months.
“I never really understood the extent of it until now. Just tired," she explained. “It's definitely a lot of change and something I've never experienced before."
She told People that one of her many goals as a first-time parent is to travel with the baby and expose him or her to “new places” and “different environments.”
"We want to try to do a big trip or a good, fun vacation type of trip,” she said. “The two of us with the baby, and then just immerse the baby in something new and something different and different experiences."
But first, she must prepare for what’s ahead as she nears her third trimester.
"It's something you really need to prepare for, so I've been trying to do that," she told People. "Other than that, just trying to stay healthy and enjoy it, because right now it feels like it's going to be forever.”
