What You should expect in Week 19
Have you felt your baby kick or move yet? If not, you will very soon.
Dr. Jessica Madden, Medical Director at Aeroflow, tells Babylist that your “baby’s five senses—sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste—are rapidly growing at 19 weeks.” As are many other things, like their sleep and wake cycle.
In addition to all the growing, your baby is taking in a lot of amniotic fluid.
Did you know the taste of your amniotic fluid is affected by your diet?
Dr. Madden also adds that the vernix caseosa is starting to coat your baby as well.
“Vernix caseosa is a thick, white coating on babies’ bodies that starts to develop around this time.
It is the main protection for babies’ fragile skin and prevents their skin from wrinkling since they live in a fluid-filled environment.”
And with the development of their central nervous system in full force, you will start to feel your baby moving continuously!
