Jay Cutler has his kids to thank.
The 42-year-old retired NFL quarterback shares three kids — sons Camden Jack, 12, and Jaxon Wyatt, 11, and daughter Saylor James, 9 — with his ex-wife, reality TV star Kristin Cavallari.
On June 2, he briefly spoke to Us Weekly about the pair’s co-parenting relationship.

“The kids kind of do it,” he said of their kids’ role in their ever-evolving relationship. “We’ve got our schedule and it works for us.”
Cutler and Cavallari started dating in 2010 and announced their engagement the following year before splitting several months later, according to People.
The four-month breakup came to an end in November 2011 when the two got back together.
They welcomed their first child, Camden, in August 2012 and tied the knot the following year before welcoming their second child, Jaxon, in 2014 and third child, Saylor, in 2015.
The pair announced their divorce in April 2020 and it was finalized in June 2022.
Since the divorce, Cavallari has been linked to Jeff Dye, Chase Rice, Mark Estes, Morgan Wallen, Jason Statham, Nate Thompson and Glen Powell, per People.
Meanwhile, Cutler was linked to Madison LeCroy, Jana Kramer and Kelley Flanagan, per Life & Style, before going public with his fiancée Samantha Robertson.
It’s unclear when the couple started dating, but they went Instagram official in September 2023 and announced their engagement in November.
“We got a lot of things in the fire,” he told Us Weekly of his wedding plans with Robertson. “I mean, we haven’t officially started that yet, but we [will] in the future.”
“We haven’t even crossed that bridge yet,” he added, “so we’ll see what happens.”
Cutler’s co-parenting comment differs from Cavallari’s past remarks
Cutler’s recent co-parenting comment was a rare one.
While he doesn’t open up about his private life often — including his relationship with Robertson — his take on co-parenting with Cavallari differs from what the “Laguna Beach” actress has said in the past.
In a December appearance on Bunnie XO’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast, Cavallari described co-parenting with Cutler as “so up and down.”
“Zero f***ing consistency, which is really hard. It has not been easy, to say the least,” she argued.
Cavallari then recalled a moment when she thought the pair’s relationship was taking a positive turn — though it didn’t last long.
“We sat together at a basketball game earlier in the year, and I was like, ‘Holy f***, this is the best thing that’s ever happened. Jesus Christ, we made it. We can sit next to each other,’” Cavallari explained.

“And we haven’t sat together since,” she added. “What the f***? It’s a bumpy road.”
