MrBeast Says He Would Only Start a Family Under One Condition. ‘It’s a Sacrifice’

Ryan Brennan | January 20, 2026

MrBeast would love to be a father someday — but only under one condition.

The 27-year-old YouTube sensation and creator of “Beast Games” appeared on a recent episode of the “Good Guys” podcast with Josh Peck and Ben Soffer when the topic of fatherhood came up.

MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, had asked Peck and Soffer — both of whom are dads — to quantify how having a child affected their ability to work.

“Look, there is no way that you can possibly dedicate the time that you are dedicating to what you do at the level that you do it while also having a child that you actually love and care for,” Soffer told MrBeast.

MrBeast went on to say that most of the successful people he meets rarely regret having kids.

“They’re almost always like, ‘Yeah, I’m less successful, but I don’t care,’” he added.

Peck, who shares three kids — Max Milo, 7, Shai Miller, 3, and Meyer Lane, 1 — with his wife Paige O’Brien, argued that he knows parents who didn’t let their kids affect their work life at all.

“But are they phenomenal fathers as well?” MrBeast asked, to which Peck replied, “No, not at all.”

“I don’t want to have a kid unless I’m a phenomenal father,” MrBeast quipped. “That’s where the database is more relevant.”

MrBeast thanked Peck and Soffer for being honest with him about how having a child truly affected their work-life balance — and denounced those who act like having kids will “make you more successful.”

“I hate when people say that kind of stuff because I agree, it’s a sacrifice if you’re actually a good father,” MrBeast said of fatherhood.

“What you guys are quantifying is that it’s a sacrifice, but it’s worth it,” he continued.

Fatherhood might be off the table for now, but MrBeast is one step closer to that dream.

The social media star, who boasts a combined 668 million followers on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, proposed to his girlfriend Thea Booysen on Christmas Day in 2024, according to People.

It’s unclear when the wedding is, but the couple have confirmed that it will be more of a private showing.

"We're thinking of doing it somewhere on an island where we're far away from just about everybody," Booysen told People on Jan. 1, 2025.

"We're not going to try and have a big, extravagant wedding. It's going to be nice, but it's certainly going to be intimate [with] close family and friends,” she added.

More recently, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Jan. 7, MrBeast was asked if the wedding would be televised for his fans to see.

"I love my fiancée very dearly, and I think she helps keep me grounded and makes me a better person. Maybe we'll take a photo at the wedding, but no,” he revealed.

"I'm always in front of a camera, and so, for the most part, my relationship is one of those things I just keep behind the camera 'cause it's just like everything else is in front of it,” he added.
