MGK’s daughter has quite a unique baby name — and now we know where it came from.
The 35-year-old singer, whose real name is Colson Baker, welcomed his first baby with his ex-fiancée Megan Fox on March 27, per Instagram, more than five months after they called off their engagement.
At the time, many fans were under the impression that he named his baby girl Celestial Seed.
On June 17, fresh off his first Father’s Day as a dad of two, MGK squashed those rumors in an Instagram Reel of him playing a ukulele in front of his cooing little one.
“Saga Blade Fox-Baker,” he wrote. “Thank you for the ultimate gift @meganfox.”
Now three months later, MGK is opening up about the origin story behind his daughter’s unique name.
During a Sept. 18 appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” MGK revealed that his ancestors and family are Norwegian — and that there’s a goddess in Norse mythology named Saga.
According to Behind the Name, saga is an Old Norse word that means “story” and “fairytale.”
In English, a saga is “a long story about past events over a long period of time,” traditionally written in the Old Norse language and rooted in Scandinavian history, per the Cambridge Dictionary.
"And so we named her Saga because to get her on this earth through highs and lows, it truly was an epic story of love, pain, and a lot of magic,” MGK explained to host Jennifer Hudson.

According to the Social Security Administration, Saga is one of the more unique mythical names in the United States today.
Not only has it never appeared in the SSA’s top 1,000 most popular names for boys or girls in any year since 1900, but it was only given to a recorded 64 baby girls since 2020 — including 19 in 2024.
Other popular Norse goddess names include Freya and Freyja — the Norse goddess of love and fertility.
Freya, which ranked 159th last year, was given to approximately 1,877 baby girls in 2024, while Freyja (the Norse spelling) ranked 771st with a recorded 364 live births, according to the SSA.
MGK opens up about co-parenting with ex-fiancée Megan Fox
MGK and Megan Fox first met on the set of “Midnight in the Switchgrass” in 2020, according to People.
The former couple made their relationship Instagram official later that year and announced their engagement in January 2022 before confirming their pregnancy in November 2024.
The pair reportedly broke up several weeks later, per TMZ.
While talking about their daughter Saga on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” MGK described Megan Fox as “the greatest partner to have a child with” and “such a phenomenal mom.”
"We go back and forth on who (Saga) looks like. Like last month she looked exactly like me and now she looks exactly like her,” Kelly added of their daughter.

In addition to Saga, MGK is also a father to a 16-year-old daughter Casie, whom he shares with ex Emma Cannon, per People.
During a July 29 interview on the “Today” show, MGK was asked which of his daughters’ names he got to pick.
“Well, I lost the first one and won the second one," he joked.
