San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey is opening up about fatherhood.
A Chicago mom of two is going viral for what can only be described as a baby name gone wrong.
Kyley Majmudar, who regularly goes viral on TikTok for her relatable parenting posts, was pregnant with her second child eight years ago when she and her then-boyfriend came to an agreement.
The agreement was simple: her boyfriend would let the baby take Majmudar’s last name, but only if he was allowed to choose the baby’s first name.
If they were to get married, only then would their daughter adopt his last name.

Not long after both parties agreed, Majmudar’s boyfriend settled on the name Aubrey — a name she wasn’t too fond of at the time, but a deal was a deal.
“It’s not something I would have chosen myself,” Majmuda told TODAY.com in an interview, published Dec. 17. “But I thought, you know what, it’s fine. It’ll grow on me.”
It didn’t take long for her to fall in love with the name — but then came the kicker.
One month after giving birth to Aubrey, Majmudar learned that her then-boyfriend had cheated on her. The woman he was seeing on the side had a daughter — and her daughter’s name was also Aubrey.
“When I went on her Facebook, it was ‘Aubrey this, Aubrey that,’” Majmudar told Today.com. “She even had the name tattooed on her arm!”
Her boyfriend said he had no idea about the connection, but Majmudar didn’t care.
She knew what had to be done.

Instead of keeping her daughter’s name Aubrey, Majmudar petitioned the court to change her daughter’s name to Harper — a move that was made official while her now-8-year-old daughter was still an infant.
Majmudar used her experience as a warning to moms everywhere.
“Always find out where a name comes from before you agree to it!” she told the outlet of her advice.
Majmudar isn’t alone with her baby name gone wrong story
This isn’t the first time Majmudar has opened up about her daughter’s baby name story.
“When the judge asked why we were changing our daughters first name, and I said, ‘you can tell the judge why we have decided to change her name,” she wrote in a text overlay on a 2023 TikTok video.
In the video, Majmudar can be seen lip-syncing to the words of Taylor Swift’s song “The Story of Us.”
And it didn’t take long for other moms to share their similar baby name gone wrong stories.
- “I was named after my dads ex. my mom found out from his old marine buddy.”
- “Is it because he named her after his ex? Happened to my mom when she eventually found out that Danielle was also the name of my dads HS sweetheart.”
- “My ex wanted to name our daughter Elena, it was cute, until Elena messaged him telling him to leave me and that she loved him.”
- “Ugh. Found out 10 years later that our daughter’s middle name is the same as his ex’s middle name. We’re divorced now.”
- “My grandpa suggested my moms name and years later she found out it was after an ex girlfriend.”
If you’re stuck in a similar situation, there are ways to initiate a legal name change.
The best way to go about this is by contacting a lawyer who specializes in name changes, especially since rules and regulations often vary by state.

For the most part, the process involves signing a petition, getting a court order approving the change, giving proper public notice of the change and a final decree from the court authorizing the name change.
