Boy names that start with F might be forgotten in today’s society — but it hasn’t always been that way.
Baby name ideas can come from anywhere — and they often do.
Some parents like to name their child after a beloved Disney princess like Aurora or Jasmine, while others (like Megan Fox and MGK) go with a name like Saga, which was inspired by a Norwegian goddess.
Gemstones, flowers, nature-themed, water-inspired, virtue names — there’s really no limit.
But while there’s no right or wrong when it comes to baby name inspiration, it’s clear that many parents in the United States tend to think the same way when building their baby name list.
And that’s exactly what BabyCenter learned in a new survey conducted by Everyday Health Group.
The poll was open from October 30 to November 1, 2024 and included answers from 453 BabyCenter users who had given birth in the past year — and one answer, in particular, appeared more than others.
Of the 453 moms, roughly 100 of them (23%) named their baby after a family member.
Using a baby naming app, list or book came in second with 15%, while 12% chose a baby name inspired by a place or region — and another 11% went with a pop culture-inspired name.
Then again, some parents got a little creative with their baby name ideas.

One user came across the name Collins on a tombstone while visiting her grandmother’s gravesite.
“It turned out it was my husband’s great-grandmother’s maiden name. I had no idea they were related, but knew I loved the name!” the user — who named her daughter Collins — said, per Baby Center.
Another user named their son Austin after seeing it on a mailbox while driving through a neighborhood.
Other sources of inspiration included unforgettable friends from college, a cherished childhood crush, football players from their favorite NFL team and even a road name from a small Southern town.
And let’s not forget about the Ohio couple who welcomed a set of quintuplets on Aug. 4 — and gave each of them a tree-inspired name. The names they chose were Juniper, Cedar, Linden, Torrey and Alder.
