“That is terrible.”
Whitney Purvis is mourning the death of her eldest son.
The 33-year-old “16 and Pregnant” alum, whose pregnancy journey was documented in the show’s first season, took to Facebook on June 2 to share that her son Weston Gosa Jr., 16, died earlier that day.
“Life is so cruel and unfair. I just don’t understand,” Purvis wrote in the post, which included a series of photos of Weston with his mother and younger brother, River.

“Oh my baby is gone and I don't know what to do with myself. He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true. How do you go on in life after losing a child?” she added.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Purvis and her ex-husband Weston Gosa Sr. were one of six couples featured in the first season of “16 and Pregnant,” a show that debuted on MTV in June 2009.
The former couple welcomed Weston Jr. while filming the show. River was born five years later, per People.
“I'm in disbelief, this cannot be happening. I don't want it to be real. I would do anything just to hold him. Words just can't describe the pain I am feeling,” Purvis continued in her post.
“I love you so much, Weston Owen Gosa. God, I love you so much. You are my heart. I was so proud of the young man you were becoming. I just can't go on without you,” she concluded.
Purvis shares emotional tribute with memories of Weston Jr.
On June 3, Purvis took to Instagram to share more memories of her late son.
In the caption, she recalled the “little dolphin noise” he used to make, dancing in his crib to the theme song of “Law & Order: SVU” and the day he became a big brother to River.
“I will always cherish our memories together, the songs you use to love, your laugh, the phases you would go through,” she wrote in the caption.
“Your smile, your jokes, the first day of school, playing with you, your first time swimming, making crafts,” she continued. “The first time I held you and the last hug I gave you.”
Weston Jr.’s father, stepmom provide updates hours apart
On June 2, several hours before Purvis’s announcement, Weston Jr.’s stepmom Amy Gosa posted an update to her Facebook account.
“We do not know the cause, they will do an autopsy soon but all we know is we got up this morning around 7 am and tried to wake him up, he was not breathing,” she wrote in the post.
CPR was performed before and after paramedics arrived on the scene, according to Amy Gosa. Weston Jr. was sent to a hospital in Gordon County, where he was pronounced dead.
“He was the most amazing son I could have asked for. He was brilliant, smart, funny and had so much potential in life,” Amy Gosa wrote in her post.
According to TMZ, Purvis lost custody of both Weston Jr. and River in the years since the former couple left the show.
On June 2, Weston Gosa Sr. posted a tribute of his own on his Facebook account.
“You'll forever be my lil boy. I'll live the rest of my days with you in my heart. God I wish this was all just a bad dream,” he wrote in the post.

“You're free now from all the complications you had to deal with for the last 6 years or so. Fly high baby boy, daddy loves you more than you could have ever known,” he concluded.
