Chris Evans and his wife, Alba Baptista, are officially parents! The couple welcomed a baby girl named Alma Grace Baptista Evans on October 29. The newborn’s name pays a sweet tribute to both of her parents by including their surnames.
The couple has kept their relationship largely out of the spotlight. First linked in January 2022, Evans and Baptista have always valued their privacy.
A source previously told People that Evans “got serious very quickly” after meeting Baptista in Europe, adding that he “kept saying he knew she was the one.”
Even as they prepared for parenthood, Evans shared that he and Baptista were still basking in newlywed bliss. “It’s incredible,” he said of their marriage. “It’s wonderful.”
Evans has long spoken about his desire to start a family. In a 2023 interview with E! News, he joked, “I would love to have kids—but having a dog is certainly a good litmus test for responsibility.”
And in another 2022 People interview, the actor reflected on the importance of family.
“That’s absolutely something I want—wife, kids, building a family. When you read about most of the best artists… it wasn’t the work they made that they were most proud of—it was the relationships, the families they created, the love they found and shared.”
The pair exchanged vows on September 9, 2023, attended by some of Evans’ closest friends including actors Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth.
“I got married,” Evans told the audience at New York Comic Con just weeks later. “It was really, really great.”
Evans also revealed that he and Baptista held two wedding ceremonies to honor both of their backgrounds.
“We kind of had two ceremonies,” he said. “We had one on the East Coast, and we did one in Portugal—my wife’s Portuguese. But they were just wonderful and beautiful. It’s a lot—planning a wedding takes a lot out of you—but now that it’s over, we’re just enjoying life.”
Now, with the arrival of baby Alma Grace, it seems the couple’s next chapter is just beginning.
