Cristiano Ronaldo had a sweet message for his daughter — and late son — on their birthday.
The 40-year-old Portuguese footballer took to Instagram on April 18 to share a photo of him giving his 3-year-old daughter, Bella, a kiss on the cheek as they rolled around in the grass.
“Happy day, my love! Our love is always with you,” Ronaldo wrote in the caption, translated from Spanish.
The iconic forward also shared a hashtag — #AngelyBella — in the caption, referring to Bella’s twin brother Ángel, who died during childbirth in April 2022.
Ronaldo shares Bella, Ángel and one other child — daughter Alana Martina, born in November 2017 — — with his girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez, 31.
Rodriguez, who has been with Ronaldo since 2016, also took to Instagram to honor Bella and Ángel.
“My babies are 3 years old today I love you with all my heart. This video with dad is one of my favorites,” she wrote in the caption alongside a video of Ronaldo talking to Bella in Spanish.
“Congratulations and thank you so much for choosing me as your mom,” Rodriguez added in the caption — also written in Spanish.
In addition to their three children, Ronaldo shares a son named Cristiano Jr., born in 2010, and twins Eva Maria and Mateo Ronaldo, born in June 2017 via surrogate, per People.
Ronaldo has agreed to keep the identity of Cristiano Jr.’s mother private.
Ronaldo and Rodríguez experienced a devastating loss in 2022
In October 2021, Rodríguez and Ronaldo revealed that they were expecting twins in an Instagram post that saw the couple holding ultrasound photos while laying in bed.
“Delighted to announce we are expecting twins,” they wrote in the joint caption. “Our hearts are full of love - we can’t wait to meet you.”
In April 2022, the couple announced the birth of Bella — and death of Ángel.
"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel," Ronaldo and Rodríguez wrote on Instagram.
"Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness,” the couple added in the post.
Later that year, Ronaldo signed a three-year contract with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr worth a reported $75 million per year, according to ESPN.
That figure made Ronaldo the highest-paid player in football history.

He made his debut with the Riyadh-based team in 2023 and has scored 96 goals in 106 appearances in the three seasons since.
Ronaldo currently leads the Saudi Pro league with 27 goals in 23 appearances for the 2024-25 campaign.
