“I’m not going to keep supporting you like this.”
James Gunn might not know what the future holds for the “Aquaman” franchise — but he has a worthy successor, if needed.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 58-year-old filmmaker and co-CEO of DC Studios was asked about his thoughts on influencer Trisha Paytas naming her newborn son Aquaman.
Not only did he say it was “cool,” but he suggested the perfect nickname for baby Aquaman.

“I saw that, yes,” Gunn told ET of the name. “I think that’s cool! I mean, I hope he does okay in school.”
The filmmaker went on to clarify that he had a hard time in school with his last name being Gunn — which resulted in nicknames like Tommy Gunn, BB Gunn and Ray Gunn.
“Won’t he get made fun of in school?” Gunn asked. “Do kids make fun of kids anymore?”

Actors Tim Meadows and Frank Grillo, who also took part in the interview, reassured Gunn that baby Aquaman was “going to be fine” when his school days come.
“Especially if he lives in New York where I grew up,” Grillo joked. “He’ll be great.”
Paytas — who reposted Gunn’s interview on her Instagram Stories — welcomed her baby boy, Aquaman Moses, with her husband Moses Hacmon on July 12.
While Gunn appeared to be on the fence with the name, he did recommend calling the little boy AQ for short.
His comments came on July 27 at the San Diego Comic-Con, which he attended with the cast of “Peacemaker” — a series written and directed by Gunn, and produced by DC Studios.
The showrunner recently revealed on his “Peacemaker: The Official Podcast” that he’s unsure how “canon” the Aquaman storyline will be to the future of the DC Universe.
“Is Aquaman canon? We don’t know, but I don’t think Aquaman is canon,” he said, according to IMDB. “It’s unlikely that Aquaman is a famous hero in the DCU.”
Paytas’ fans share mixed reactions over baby Aquaman’s name
Paytas is no stranger to unique baby names and has been criticized in the past for her choices.
Not only does she have a newborn named Aquaman Moses, but she and her husband are also parents to daughters Malibu Barbie, 2, and Elvis, 13 months.
After announcing Aquaman’s birth, fans took to social media with mixed reactions.
“Please tell me you didint actually name him that,” one fan wrote in the comment section of her Instagram reveal.
“That kids getting bullied forever for being named Aquaman,” another fan commented.
“No because why ruin someone’s life with a name like that,” a third fan wrote.
During the July 22 episode of her “Just Trish” podcast, Paytas revealed that she also considered Paper Mate, Aladdin, Moses Jr. and Water Snake before settling on Aquaman.
“Finding out it’s aqua man after I told everyone it was paper mate is so humbling,” a fan commented on Instagram.
But while her comments were flooded with doubts, some fans saw the beauty in the name.
“Okay how ICONIC that no one guessed Aquaman!!!! That is absolutely adorable I’m crying. Soooo cute!” one fan wrote in a comment under her YouTube reveal.
