"Mother’s Day 2025 will be one I’ll never forget."
Fashion’s biggest night is here — but don’t expect to see Jennifer Garner there.
The 53-year-old actress might be “13 Going On 30” for the rest of her life, but she has made it known in the past that she purposely hasn’t attended the Met Gala since making her debut in 2007.
Garner, of course, attended the 2007 Met Gala with Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani.

And now with the annual event just hours away, one video of Garner is resurfacing as a reminder of why we won’t be seeing the “Daredevil” actress at the Met Gala 2025.
“I went to the Met Ball exactly one time,” she said in a December 2023 episode of Vogue’s “Beauty Secret
She did, however, talk very highly of the outfit she wore that night, 18 years ago.
"I wore — that night — this magical red Valentino gown," she recalled while going through her beauty routine. "And I was his date and that was really majestic and special."

The Met Gala’s theme in 2007 was “Poiret: King of Fashion,” which paid homage to twentieth-century designer Paul Poiret.
The theme for this year’s Met Gala, on May 5, is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
According to Vogue, the theme will “explore the role of sartorial style in forming Black identities, focusing on the emergence, significance, and proliferation of the Black dandy.”
Garner isn’t the only celebrity saying no to the Met Gala

The Met Gala is one of the most star-studded events of the year, but not just anyone can go.
The event, which benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute, has become “invitation-only with a waiting list,” according to TIME — and even guests are vetted upon approval.
Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue since 1988, has the final say on who gets to attend.
But while some people would do anything or an invite, others — like Garner — appear to have no interest in returning to what many consider the Super Bowl of red carpets.
“I'd rather be sitting at my house, doing something productive, than dressing up in really expensive clothes and being photographed on a red carpet,” said Zayn Malik in a 2018 interview with GQ.

In 2015, Tina Fey opened up about her one experience at the Met Gala.
“I have gone to it once and it is such a jerk parade. Clearly, I’ll never go again,” she said in an interview with David Letterman.
“You go and it’s this beautiful space and it’s just every jerk from every walk of life is there wearing some stupid thing,” she said. “I went and I dragged my husband along with me too, which I’m still in trouble for.”
Other celebrities who won’t be attending? Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.
Both TMZ and People confirmed that the couple, who last attended in 2022 when they were co-chairs, will not be attending the Met Gala this year.
Sarah Jessica Parker, a 12-time attendee, also won’t be attending, per Entertainment Tonight.
And let’s not forget about the long list of celebrities who we have yet to see at the star-studded event — including Dolly Parton, Dwayne Johnson, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Jennier Aniston and Adele.
