Ozzy’s death was announced just 16 days after he performed with Black Sabbath, the band he founded in 1968, for the last time. Sharon Osbourne, and four of his children, Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis, shared a statement confirming his passing.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the Osbourne family wrote in their statement.
“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time,” they continued, signing the note, “Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
In addition to Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis, Ozzy Osbourne is also a father to Elliot Kingsley and Jessica Osbourne.
Ozzy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2003, People reported. As a result of living with the disease, Sharon Osbourne, 72, says her husband was no longer able to walk.
“Parkinson’s is a progressive disease. It’s not something you can stabilize. It affects different parts of the body and it’s affected his legs,” she told The Sun in February. “But his voice is as good as it’s ever been.”
