Tennis Star Ons Jabeur Reveals First Pregnancy Months After Announcing Hiatus from Sport

Lauren Jarvis-Gibson | November 14, 2025

Tennis star Ons Jabeur revealed on November 10 that she and her husband, Karim Kamoun, are expecting their first child—a baby boy due in April 2026.

The 31-year-old shared the happy news in an Instagram video, showing the couple dressed in white, with Kamoun holding a tiny tennis racket and Jabeur cradling a miniature Wimbledon-themed onesie.

“Took a little break to reset and recharge… Turns out, we’ve been planning the cutest comeback ever,” Jabeur said in the caption. “The court will have to wait a little longer, because soon… we’ll be welcoming our tiniest teammate. Baby boy joining the team in April.”

Comments have been flooding the star’s video with words of encouragement and excitement. The tennis racket company, Wilson Tennis wrote, “Congratulations, Ons! We are so happy for you and can't wait to meet the future tennis Champion.❤️”. The Wimbledon Championships even chimed in writing, “Congratulations, Ons 💜”. Greek tennis pro Maria Sakkari also wrote, “OMG!!!! I’m so happy for you guys 🥹”.

Prior to her hiatus from the sport, Jabeur experienced both remarkable achievements and heartbreaking defeats.

In 2022, she reached a career-high ranking of World No. 2 according to the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). That same year, she advanced to the Wimbledon final, where she lost to Elena Rybakina, and later reached the U.S. Open final, losing to Iga Świątek.

In 2023, Jabeur returned to the Wimbledon final but was defeated by Markéta Vondroušová. She later went on to win the WTA Finals in Mexico and announced she would donate a portion of her prize money to support people in Palestine.

“I can't be happy with this win,” she said. “It is not a political message; it is humanity. I want peace in this world. That’s it.”

In 2024, Jabeur suffered from a shoulder injury that forced her to withdraw from the U.S. Open. Despite the setback, she vowed to return to the court in 2025, making her comeback at the Australian Open.

After being knocked out of Wimbledon during the third round, she announced in July that she would take a hiatus from professional tennis, according to BBC.

In her announcement she wrote, “For the past two years I've been pushing myself so hard, fighting through injuries and facing many other challenges. But deep down, I haven’t felt happy on court for some time now. Tennis is such a beautiful sport. But right now I feel it's time to take a step back and finally put myself first: to breathe, to heal, and to rediscover the joy of simply living".

Now, with her pregnancy announcement, Jabeur’s fans are celebrating a different kind of comeback — one that promises to bring joy far beyond the tennis court.
