A mom in Denver, Colorado, urged caution after she heard a mysterious voice through her baby’s Nanit monitor, believing the device was hacked.
Rain Spencer, best known for her role as Taylor Jewel in the Amazon Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty (TSITP), has snagged a new role in Amazon MGM Studios' latest book adaptation.
Hoping to continue the success they've found so far in adapting The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han and We Were Liars by E. Lockhart, the studio has set its sights on another bestseller by Lockhart, titled Genuine Fraud.
The book centers on the relationship between Jule, a scrappy girl great at reinventing herself, and Imogen, the wealthy heiress she befriends.
When Imogen goes missing, Jule is then able to assume her identity and live out her wealthy fantasies–if she can avoid getting caught, that is.
Now, Deadline has exclusively confirmed that Spencer has signed on to play the main character, Jule, and to be one of the executive producers.
Joining Spencer from the TSITP team is one of the writers, Sinead Daly, who has signed on as show creator and executive producer alongsider her.
This new role makes Spencer the first out of her TSITP castmates to headline a new series since the show ended.
However, as fans of the show already know, TSITP's story isn't quite over yet. While the streaming series ended in September, it has been confirmed that the cast will be filming a movie as the true finale for the franchise.
It has not been officially confirmed, but most if not all of the cast, including Spencer, are expected to return for the film.
Spencer is keeping busy with a variety of projects as of late. She can also be seen in Big Girls Don’t Cry, the debut film written and directed by New Zealand-based musician Paloma Schneideman, which is set to be released in New Zealand in 2026.
