Cardi B doesn’t want her kids to be perfect — but she does want them to be a better version of her.
The 32-year-old rapper and soon-to-be mom of four appeared on the “On Purpose” podcast with host Jay Shetty when she opened up about the qualities she hopes to instill in her kids as they grow up.
And she wasn’t afraid to admit that she can be a little “tough” on her kids.
“My kids, they have school until 3 p.m.” she said on the podcast. “After school, my kids, four times a week, they have tutoring — reading, math, whatever. They have tutoring mandatory in my house.”
And that’s true even on the days her kids are complaining about being sleepy and unmotivated.
"It's discipline. It's gotta be in you, and you have to be better than me. I want you to be better than me," she said. "There's things that I cannot do that I want my kids to do."
The “Am I the Drama?” artist shares three kids — Kulture Kiari, 7, Wave Set, 3, and Blossom Belle, 11 months — with her ex-husband and fellow rapper Offset, according to People.
On Sept. 17, she confirmed that she’s expecting her fourth child and first with boyfriend Stefon Diggs.

While she told Shetty that she wants her kids to be “smarter” than her, she doesn’t expect them to be perfect and doesn’t want to put that type of pressure on them.
"I want you to be — not perfect because you cannot make your kids perfect and you don't want you to put pressure on your kids [to be] perfect — but I want you to be a 100 times better version than me,” she said.
“And I'm gonna [instill] that in you and you're gonna be mad and you're gonna be crying, but you're gonna appreciate that one day,” she added.
Cardi B says she’s raising her kids in a ‘well-rounded’ environment
Cardi B has been dodging pregnancy rumors ever since things started heating up between her and Diggs.
She further ignited those rumors when she opened up about wanting more kids during a sneak peek of her interview on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” which aired Sept. 15.
Cardi B confirmed her pregnancy two days later in an interview with CBS Mornings.

While talking to Hudson, she talked about her kids’ differing personalities and how exposing them to the outside world is keeping them grounded — despite living a rather luxurious lifestyle.
"I want them to know that it's like there's another world out there that's not your world," she said in the interview. "It's not always about backyard and foxes and deer. There's rats and mice."
She went on to explain that she still has a lot of family in the “hood” — and Cardi B’s kids spend a lot of quality time with those family members.
"They was just in the Dominican Republic and it's like, 'Yeah. My grandma's going to make you clean and stuff.'"
"They love going to their cousin's house. They love going to my dad's house and stuff like that. They're very well-rounded, [and] I love that,” she added.
Cardi B and Offset started dating in 2017 and tied the knot later that year before finalizing their divorce in 2024, according to People.
As for Cardi B and Stefon Diggs, a wide receiver for the New England Patriots, the couple have been linked since May, per Billboard.
