Drew Scott had to wait before hearing his daughter say “Dada” for the first time.
The 47-year-old “Property Brothers” star shares two children — son Parker, 3, and daughter Piper, 1 — with his wife Linda Phan, whom he has been married to since 2018, according to People.
The couple announced Piper Rae’s birth in a joint Instagram post on June 5, 2024.

In an interview with People, published Aug. 3, Drew Scott revealed that his daughter’s first word was “Mama” — a word she would say “all the time,” according to the father of two.
Unfortunately for Drew Scott, his daughter’s second word wasn’t “Dada.”
“And then months are going by. I'm like, ‘Come on. 'Dada, dada, dada, dada.’ Her second word — 'Hippo,’” he told People.
“Her stuffy is a hippo. Her second word was 'hippo.' I'm like, ‘You can't even say Dada before Hippo?’“ he added.
While he had to wait, Drew Scott confirmed that Piper has since learned the word “Dada.”
“Now she's saying 'Dada,' so I'm happy,” he continued.
Drew Scott first met his wife in 2010 at a Toronto Fashion Week event, according to People. Phan was “dressed as the fashion police” and was giving out tickets for “bad fashion,” according to the outlet.
They exchanged numbers and had their first date a few months later before moving in with one another in 2012.
The couple announced their engagement in 2016, moved into their dream home two years later and tied the knot in May 2018.
They welcomed Parker via IVF in May 2022 before announcing the birth of Piper two years later.
Drew Scott said raising Piper is ‘so different’ than raising Parker
In November, Drew Scott appeared on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” with his twin brother and fellow HGTV star Jonathan Scott.
Piper was just five months old at the time — and was having a little trouble telling her father and uncle apart.
"Piper is now starting to recognize it’s not me,” he told host Jennifer Hudson, according to People.
“Now Piper has officially started to recognize me because, for the first several months, she was confused as to why Daddy shaved,” Jonathan Scott added.
As for Parker, Drew Scott says his son finds Jonathan Scott to be the “funniest person ever.”
He also revealed that he calls his two children PMP Music Factory.
“She’s so different than Parker. Parker’s only two years earlier but I forgot everything I learned with him so it’s like starting over again fresh,” he added of becoming a father of two.
But while Piper is “smiles and everything” when in her uncle’s arms, the same can’t be said for the twins’ mother, Joanne Scott.
“The first moment handing her to my mom, cries right away," Drew said. “My mom hates it, it kills her.”
“My mom was like, ‘Can you print off a bunch of pictures of my face and put it around her crib.’ I’m like, ‘Do we want to scar the child? Or do we want her to like you?’” he added.
Jonathan Scott isn’t a father yet, but he will soon be a stepdad to his fiancée Zooey Deschanel’s two kids, Elsie Otter, 9, and Charlie Wolf, 7, whom she shares with ex-husband Jacob Pechenik, per People.
