As an actress, Emily Blunt knows that spending a majority of her time in front of a camera comes with the territory.
But if there’s one thing she’s not willing to sacrifice as a working mom in Hollywood, it’s her children’s bedtime routine.
The 42-year-old actress is currently filming “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” which began production earlier this summer, according to People, and is awaiting the Oct. 3 release of “The Smashing Pumpkin.”

In an interview with “PORTER” magazine, published Aug. 31, Blunt described her kids’ bedtime routine as an “essential anchor” to her role as a mom.
“The 10-minute chats where they tell you everything – you don’t want to miss them,” she said.
While she does her best to never miss those precious moments, she also admitted that there will come a time when she feels comfortable with her kids going to bed without her.
“Once my children start to find me repellent, once Mommy doesn’t reign supreme, I will do it,” she said of the sacrifice.
But for now, Blunt’s consistent bedtime routine for her two kids will pay dividends in the future.
According to a review published in “Sleep Medicine Reviews,” a predictable bedtime routine for kids plays helps promote “an array of healthy developmental outcomes during early childhood.”
This includes everything from enhanced language development, academic achievement, social-emotional and behavioral functioning, parent-child bonding and better sleep patterns.
Likewise, a 2024 study published in the “Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics” found a positive correlation between consistent bedtime routines and behavioral control.
“Children who had consistent bedtimes were generally able to regulate their behavior and emotions,” said Adwoa Dadzie, one of the study’s lead researchers, per Penn State University.
“On the other hand, children whose bedtimes and sleep times were all over the place showed more impulsivity and less control.”

The couple were joined by their then-9-year-old and 6-year-old daughters at the 2023 US Open inside Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City, according to E! News.

The couple haven’t been spotted at the 2025 US Open, which began on Aug. 24 — but they still have time as the tournament concludes on Sept. 7, per ESPN.
