As most parents and elementary school teachers will tell you, kids love to tell stories about what goes on in their lives.
Joe Buck’s twins got a little too rough with one another — but Buck ended up paying the price.
The 56-year-old sportscaster and play-by-play announcer for “Monday Night Football” took to X on Jan. 3 to praise ESPN’s makeup artist for helping him conceal a battle scar courtesy of his children.
“Not all heroes wear capes, but some bring them to work. Our makeup artiste, the great Kathleen Vybihal hid this from high def cameras tonight,” he wrote alongside a photo of his black eye.
“Nothing like a knee to the eye while breaking up a fight between 7 year old twins 48 hours before a big game!!! He got me!!” he added.

The post came less than one hour after he finished calling ESPN’s coverage of the Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers’ football game on Saturday.
And his followers were quick with the jokes.
“As a father of twins and having broken up many fights, I'd ask what defense were you in prior to the fight? With twins, it's always zone. Never man,” ESPN Radio’s Mark Zinno wrote on X.
“That is true dedication. Took one for the team and still delivered magic when it mattered most,” one of Buck’s followers added.
Others were quick to echo his praise for the makeup artist.
“Kathleen is the absolute best,” Fox Sports 1 analyst and former ESPN colleague Rachel Nichols wrote on X.
Joe Buck had to wash his mouth with soap after the incident

Buck was asked about the incident during a Jan. 5 appearance on “Good Morning America.”
According to his story, Joe Buck’s wife was out of town for an interview with 49ers’ quarterback Brock Purdy when their 7-year-old twin sons started fighting on a bed during bedtime.
“One of them, I’ve signed an NDA with that kid…” he joked, “hit me in the knee — the bone right above my eye. I just swelled up.”
He went on to joke that the punishment didn’t end there.
“I said some words that I shouldn’t have,” he added. “I’m happy to report that I then went into the bathroom and let him wash my mouth out with soap.”
“A 7-year-old should never hear those words coming out of his father’s mouth,” he continued.
Some parents took to the comment section to share how common incidents like these are with twins.
“As a mom of two 7 year old boys as well, I completely understand how this happened,” one user wrote.
